I looked through the forum for a while, youtube'd it; But I can't seem to find a tutorial on how to make a minecraft mod. I know a short knowledge of Java is needed, got it(Very short >.> but I learn quickly ^^). I got the ModMaker thing. Now all I need is the tutorials.
Anyone got a link to a tut, or possibly creating one?
If so and for you. If not don't post or:
*Please make sure the post or video is UP TO DATE WITH B1.3_01!
2. Search for it. There are tutorials out there. And awesome functions like the search bar and google that actually helps you search for stuff. Unbelievable, I know.
3. Don't spam icons.
1. I said NOT TO help me with my forum posting skills. I know how to format a topic post to make it look professional, I just didn't feel like it.
2. Google was a big help, first thing I tried. 1.3_01 tutorials were not found, thank's for trying though
3. Don't spam.
And to Sunlis --
I'm not really familiar with how compatibility works so I need the most up-to-date as possible.
I get the main function or whatever of how compatibility with mods works, just not... Completely
Thank's a lot dude.
I have my first mod worked out, now I just need to figure out how to assign a sprite to it from a seperate '.png' file. I guess it's harder to do with items than blocks. Thanks again.
Is that all u guys do? Complain like immature brats in order to **** someone off? Really, it annoys me that you complain he uses icons... YES i am complaining right now, only because YOU complain to much (and if you dont then watever) he spams some icons.... So what, can u get to the topic instead of complaining about the little things... PS i also know theres a pretty high chance that someone is gonna say something back so if you do, go for it, your just proving my point. I also know its probably gonna be something like this "we complain because we dont want the forums to flood with icons" or "There annoying" or some random reason why you complain. So please, quit the complaining!

You just owned yourself Keefachu, you hypocrite. :tongue.gif: If you don't have anything productive to say, don't say anything at all. Obviously these people are being much more productive than you. They are telling him what he did wrong and how he can improve what he did wrong. Is that really all that bad?
As for my contribution, I do suggest using that tutorial that was linked. It's a good start, but deprecated. What exactly is deprecated is when assigning the block variables their attributes.
This line sets the attributes of the "stone" variable.
stone = (new BlockStone(1, 1)).setHardness(1.5F).setResistance(10F).setStepSound(soundStoneFootstep);
That is the deprecated line. There is a new attribute that needs to be added, which is .setBlockName("string"); and it is attached as follows;
stone = (new BlockStone(1, 1)).setHardness(1.5F).setResistance(10F).setStepSound(soundStoneFootstep).setBlockName("stone");
