Most of these mobs doesnt even have a purpose and lack good concept.
'Most' of them don't have a purpose of giving you items or new abilities. I agree. But you see, if you have read the intro of the OP, you should see that most of these would only have the purpose of adding atmosphere. Some people like to see more elements that add atmosphere to this game. Just like the birds of Mo's Creatures. You must be a player that wants practical mods and , of course, I accept that opinion.
Maybe you could give some ideas of adding purpose to some of these?

Fox:YES i know foxes are already done by Roundabout and DrZhark,but these are different.
Foxes are annoying.The can open things with their paws and they eat your crops,foxes arent just recreates of the zombie with different targetting though,foxes have an advanced combat system.THey sneak around,out of sight for a while,then pounce on you,dealing 3.5 damage and knocking you over,stuning you for .35 of a second,enogh for it to deal an extra .5 damage.Then the fox starts the real fight.THey run around you in circles for a bit then bite at your feet,wich has an effect on your character,stoping using is feet in any way for a second.After a while of fighting like this,the foxes starts to jump up on its hind legs and claw the player,as well as biting him(a normal attack).Biting is a mormal attck,but clawing give your character cuts,that bleed,dealing him damage after the battle has ended.heals these witha bandage( = paper)

Give fox some pork(25 pork)and it will like you.Now you cna command it with stay,follow,gaurd,explore and hunt.Foxes hunt cows pigs and of course,sheep.If tamed they will bring you the drops.

May be, but I thought about something 1 square width. They can differ by their ability to mine blocks of different types. Sand worm/regular (dirt) worm/stone worm and so on.

Very nice! I'm gonna download this one as soon as its released. I will make a few suggestions for it :
New Food : Honey
Honey will come from beehives hanging in the trees. Once the beehive is trying to be destroyed, bees will come out of it and try to attack you until you've ran far enough from their territory. When destroyed, the bees will scatter around, and will try to find a new beehive. Will drop 2 to 4 Honeys.
Honey can be used as a bait for other mobs/insects, or can be used as food.
If used as bait :

You can eat the honey raw, and it will heal you a half or one heart. But, eating it raw will attract mobs/insects to you. You can make it 'better' by smelting or cooking it to heal you 2 hearts and prevent that downside.

Shrubs are placed near trees, and always in a bunch. Destroying these shrubs can spawn some mobs, and can give you Herbs. These shrubs perhaps can be 'passed through' or you can walk in it. But, it can cause some mobs to go out the shrub and attack you.
New Block : Spike Shrub
These Spike Shrubs are simply like normal shrubs, only it deals damage when you pass through it. Also, it might spawn insect mobs or a Porcupine Spike itself once walked. Gives you spikes when destroyed.
New Food : Herbs
Herbs are found in shrubs or in trees. These herbs will be a great use in making medicine, that will heal more than 5 hearts, or give you temporary abilities. These herbs are hard to make, but will be a great use once made. They are also be planted onto ground, so you can make your herb bush.
Kind of Herbs :
Medicine Herb
This is basically a medicine that will heal you 5 hearts. To be able to make this, the herbs must be concentrated. It's simply made by this :

You will still use the concentrated herb as the base, but the similarity ends there.

Good side :
Power Boost - Gives you a power boost when attained. Attack power will be twice as normal.
Speed Boost - Gives you a speed boost when attained. Speed will be twice as normal.
Heightened Sense Boost - Gives you "Heightened Sense" when attained. Perhaps a sound file will give a 'sound' when a mob is near, and you will be able to see at the dark brighter than normal(Like a nightvision).
Bad Side :
Slowdown - Will slow you down when attained. Speed will be slowed 1/3 as normal.
Poison - Will poison you just eating it. Health will be lost gradually until you drink milk.
I say yes to some of the mods but no to the insects, too small and a waste of processing power. If they are tiny you don't need them. I only think bees are needed for bee hives. I love the other ideas too, it would be fun to see some more animals, especially biome specific ones.

How about some vultures that circle mobs and players high above the sky and come down to attack anything with low health (maybe three hearts)? The vultures would drop feathers, raw meat and bones.

I will add some of the ideas now, but there are like.... 3 ideas that aren't done yet and have actually something to do with Woodland/Forest Biomes....... c'mon it's in the titel D: Your not supposed to throw random mobs in here. Also, I don't consider humans related to woodland, the witch and centaur are exceptions! Ask for humans on Human + post and as for the additions to Bear, Fox etc., go to Mo's Creatures post. It's not that I don't like the ideas, though.

a giant caterpillar. Yes. It moves like an inchworm, spawns only in rainforests, and drops leaves.
