It doesn't have to be in-game. But does anyone have or are thinking about making a mod/addon like this? Basically a record of how long you've played in that world, days, weeks months etc. It will go by minecraft time OC so if it could be added in-game some how that would be epic. Could also expand to having days, Mon-Sun and have day specific events like extra creepers on Sunday or something.
Any thoughts/anyone have this?

I really like this idea, I don't think it should go by the Gregorian calendar, it should be with a new calendar; the Minecraftian calendar!
Just find out how much time it takes for a full cycle to go by and maybe make a week 5-9 days, change it up a little you know.
Hope somebody works on this as I would definitely use it.
Well 20 minutes in minecraft is comparable to 24 hours IRL. So a 7 day week would be 2 hours 20 minutes, a month 10 hours 20 minutes, a year 5 days 1 hour 40 minutes. That's gregorian, how ever I do like the idea of a different calendar cycle for minecraft.

Maybe 360 days in a year (12 months of 30 days each) instead of 365.25 days?? I'd assume that would be easier to code than "Oh, look, this month has 28 days, and next month as 31. Oh, it's actually a leap year, so we actually have 29 days" etc? I just think that'll make it easier to code and whatnot
My own idea is to have the moon change to a new phase every night. Then the month would be eight days long, and double as the week. EDIT: It would also be cool if different phases gave off different amounts of moonlight!
If/when seasons get implemented, I would suggest having seasons also last one month each. Then a Minecraft year would be four months, or 32 days. Any longer than that would drag too much, IMO.
And yes, it would be great to know how many days you've been stranded. Perhaps there could be an option to put the date at the upper left of the screen or something.
EDIT: Under my idea, a Minecraft date would look something like: "Crescent Waning, Summer, Year 5". Though the days of the month could be given names not related to the phases, of course.
Yeah cool ideas. Maybe also some sort of log book that says like "452 Blocks placed today, 784 destroyed" or something. Also, it'd be cool to be able to call the dates on signs like:

I like this idea, but yeah, it shouldn't follow the Gregorian calendar, the minecraftian calendar should be more square as the rest of the game. and if they are based on 2^n better.
I just started playing alpha single-player survival recently and was wondering why this hadn't been added yet. This idea of tracking how many days since the first spawn into your world should be added as an update if not a mod. This value could also be appended to the save file name as an added quirk.
Oh and a logbook to write in to keep track of your adventures with the current time automatically entered for each entry.
I WANTZ!!! :biggrin.gif: I have just installed a mod that makes it possible to write books ingame and store them in shelves. I need a date system for my diary :biggrin.gif:

The minecraft earth is huge compared to our earth.
Soooo everything should be longer (except days)
35 Days in one month
13 Months a year
Just making stuff up.
nighttime:7 min
sunrise:1 1/2 min
sunset:1 1/2 min
Full minecraft day:20 min
