I've been playing Minecraft on and off since 2010/2011, just as it started to take off.
Always loved it, especially Modded Minecraft, but haven't played it for probably at least a year now.
I'm looking for a ModPack that takes me back to my favourite days in Modded Minecraft for 1.19.
I remember looking for something similar a couple of years back for whatever was the latest version then, but was quite disappointed with what I found.
What I'm looking for is as follows:
Technology
I remember the good old days of RF power being the main source of energy, with batteries/Power Cubes (can't remember the name of the ), and power cables to hook everything up.
You could create power with canola seeds, or wind, or Nuclear (Nuclear was too OTT for me, too easy to get unlimited power), and many other ways, and could store them in a multiblock battery which also had a readout.
There was one type of cable that had different types (liquid, power, redstone) and they could all use the same block, allowing all your cables to run the same path mostly.
There were loads of different types of gadgets and goodies to be discovered in these types of modpacks, and allowed a good amount of variety in the way you wanted to build your World.
Magic
Not really fussed on Magic mods.
I used to like Thaumcraft in it's early days, but as time went on, and it was updated for newer versions, I found it a bit convoluted...sort of GregTech....overly grindy for no really reason.
Monsters
Last time I played Modded Minecraft, I did add a few of my favourite Monster Mods to the pack.
They were Zombie Awareness, which leaves blood splatters when you get hit, as well as Zombies spawning more often/nearer you under certain circumstances, like when you bleed, they can smell your blood and come looking for you.
The other one, which I can't remember the name of now, gave some Mobs special powers/abilities, as well as quite comical names. They could be a really challenge if your weren't armoured up!
Basically, if you look back to the days of the CrackPack, or the original Feed The Beast, you'll know what I'm looking for.
When I did look a couple of years ago, as I mentioned above, I found that a lot of the fun things had gone/changed.
For instance, the mod that gave you many of the machines and cables that use RF (can't remember what it's called!) suddenly dropped that, and instead went for some sort of permanent, player specific power level, which could be created per person by flowing water around a machine for example, and to use certain machine, you had to have your player with enough of that power level.
I was so disappointed with that.
Change isn't always progress, and I loved the direction Modded Minecraft was going up to that point.
I might have to run an early version of Minecraft to run those old modpacks to quench my Modded Minecraft thirst, which would be fine, but would like to run something similar for the latest version, if that exists.
I suspect that it doesn't, but as I've said, I haven't played for over a year, and last checked for something like that a couple of years ago.
So, hopefully Modded Minecraft didn't carry on down that "silly" path it seemed to be on (in my opinion), and has got back to doing what it did best all those years ago.
Check out one of Etho's Modded Minecraft series for examples of what I'm talking about (like carpenters blocks, Microblocks, Chisel, etc)
Any help appreciated.
Would like to get back into it for a while, but Vanilla still leaves me cold as the updates roll out (except the new terrain generation, which I love!), so hopefully people are still creating good mods that aren't trying to be like GregTech, and that fun and creativity are the main aim.
Wow, this forum isn't as active as I remember it from years ago, although I can't help thinking that the thread should have stayed in the general forum rather than be moved to the Mod forum, as most mod makers probably don't play that many ModPacks.
Anyway, I've found FTB One for 1.19
I've installed it, but haven't had time to have a play with it yet.
It does look like it has a lot of the types of Mods that I'm looking for, so fingers crossed.
Let's hope that all the machines use the same power type, like RF, rather than having several different types because every Mod maker is trying to get their own power type out there, which was always annoying!
OK, so while this ModPack isn't too bad, it's a far cry from the old FTB ModPacks.
No Carpenter's Blocks, no cables/conduits/redstone wires that can be placed on walls/ceilings, etc, and many other omissions.
Maybe those types of Mods aren't available for the newest versions of Minecraft.
Seems like people just aren't making many interesting Mods anymore.
I may have to go back a few versions of Minecraft to find something that allows me to be creative in the way that I want to be (I find single blocks that do all the work for me very boring, and a bit pointless to play with. )
His modded series is always worth watching, and his current ModPack is for 1.18, which has most of what I'm looking for, as well as some new and interesting stuff.
I guess a lot of mods haven't been updated for 1.19, hence the lack of interesting ModPacks for that version.
Finally got something worth playing, so me and the missus are going to open a LAN game and have some fun!

So, it seems that my saviour is DireWolf20!
