Hi guys , while searching the internet for a Ray Tracing MOD to use with my potato GTX 480 , I stumbled upon this post , claiming that
I can get a similar effects using a software called Reshade and
a plugin called RT.
after downloading , the software asks for my game installation path
I choose minecraft launcher installation folder , However when opening the game nothing changed!!
I tried with a different game ROBLOX and the mod seems to run but with poor performance though
Is there a way to make it work with minecraft , or can I use another MOD that accepts my graphics card deprecated features??
Ray Tracing is only for Nividia RTX and AMD equivalent cards for a reason because the performance requirements speak for themselves.
I assume any mods that even have ray tracing support are only going to support those as that is the hardware it's intended for and even capable of running it.
If you want Shaders use those but otherwise you can't use Ray Tracing on something that isn't possible with something that old. It's just not possible unless someone has made something that's a pseudo or altered ray tracing like effect then sure but that's not likely the case here if mods that are, are targeting actual ray tracing capable hardware and using ray tracing accurate effects.
Otherwise Shaders do a good job and to me Ray Tracing isn't anything special, it's just better lighting and a few other benefits, sometimes it's done well in games other times it's overdone and makes everything look washed out or that they are hiding detail.
I totally agree with that , except I know that a software renderer can intercept the geometry from API calls ( OpenGL or DX) and run it's own ray tracing
algorithms with that using compute shaders or CUDA cores on CUDA enabled gpus , I know the performance gonna suck but I thought it worth a try....
