Asphodel Meadows has a Datapack and Resource Pack so make sure the Datapack goes into the saves/YOURWORLDSNAME/datapacks and the Resource Pack in the resourcepacks folder.
Background:
Asphodel Meadows is a datapack made by SirPumpkinStein that was created in 1.13.2 (1.0) (updated to 1.16.5 with 2.0) and has included and improved a dimension, tools/weapon/armor tiers, useful ability items and resources.
This thread will cover as much information on the datapack as possible. Such as how to get resources, what abilities tools have and more. It will mostly reflect the 2.0 version but some 1.0 elements will be considered for those that are experiencing 1.0 on 1.13.2 to 1.15.2. to give a definitive information thread for any user. Differences or 1.0 sections will be included so it's easy to tell which is for which version of the datapack.
Videos (Guides, Overviews, other datapacks made by the creator, Let's Plays):
There is 2 guides in Asphodel Meadows, the Compendium and the Advancements. One that shows recipes, gives brief descriptions of their possibilities and can bookmark pages to see in tooltips to assist with crafting, and the other presents goals/features of the datapack to look into.
1.0 Version:
1.13.2 Version:
In this original version of the datapack, crafter's paper is acquired by Witches, using 3 in a row crafts a single Recipe Book. The player would need to make each book to view all recipes, so many of the resulting books would be randomised. The recipes appears on tooltips, there is no interactions with the books or book combining feature. Function Commands can be used to acquire any for testing purposes.
1.14 Snapshot to 1.15.2 Version:
In this version of the datapack the player must find either Witches or Pillagers to gain Crafter's Paper, using 3 of these in a row like a book (without the leather) and granting the player a single book called the Compendium. (It can also be summoned in with Function or Trigger commands along with other features of the datapack for testing). Bookmarking of recipes and viewing more information can be found on each feature's specific pages.
2.0 Version:
In this version of the datapack the player can make the Compendium with 1 Obsidian and 1 Book in a crafting table, the Compendium in this version is similar to the later 1.0 version but has a few tweaks like a Contents being one of them. Commands are different in this version.
Blocks:
Infernal Machine:
The Infernal Machine is the crafting table block of the datapack and is used often. It is used to create the many tools/weapons/armour, runes and more. The Infernal Machine is crafted with 1 Blaze Rod (top middle), 1 Crafting Table (middle), 3 Cobblestone (along the bottom) and 4 Crying Obsidian (top left and right, middle left and right) in a crafting table.
Note: In the 1.0 version of the datapack the Dimension portal would need many resources and ability items to spawn the portal in the Infernal Machine (so having many Infernal Machines can be useful but also kind of buggy sometimes). In 2.0 the portal is made up of Crying Obsidian and is made in the Overworld the same as a Nether Portal.
Note 2: The Infernal Machine can only craft resources from the datapack not from mods or regular Minecraft, meaning it doesn't function like a regular crafting table like modded Crafting Tables can due to how it's designed.
Vases:
Vases are capable of storing loot in 1 of the structures, and offering a mix of Asphodel Meadows and generic loot drops. The Vases can be reused as a store block if the player wants. There 3 Vases, the Activated, Phoenix and Sunken. It may be limited to ingots and onyx of that tier's loot tables.
Ores:
The datapack only adds new ores to the dimension, that being 3 Onyx ores (Sunken, Activated and Phoenix, in the 1.0 version there is only Activated Onyx), and adds new drops to the existing ores that can only be acquired with Mystic, Alchemic or Onyx tier Pickaxes.
Onyx Storage/Decor Blocks:
Just like the Ores in the regular game Onyx ores have Storage/Decoration blocks too. They are not used in any recipes, and are only for compressing ingots or building.
Resources:
Rune Fragment:
Rune Fragments are resource gained from mining ores with the particular pickaxes in the datapack.a
Inactive Runestone:
Inactive Runestones are items that are crafted with Rune Fragments, they need to be used alongside Essences to create any of the 4 Runes.
Runes:
Runes are a resource that is granted to the player after combining 4 Inactive Runestones and 1 of the 4 Essences. Different essences used in crafting yields a different Rune. Using a Brutal Essence for example grants the player a Brutal Rune. These Runes can be used for 4 armour sets as well as different ability items later in the datapack.
Essences:
There are 4 essences in the datapack (Radiant, Brutal, Fleeting and Tough), each can be acquired by different mobs. Commonly the player can hunt Zombies, Skeletons, Spiders and Creepers for each essence but others can also be hunted to drop essences.
Onyx:
There is 3 Onyx Ore materials in Asphodel Meadows which are all gained from the dimension (in 1.0 there is only 1, Activated Onyx). They are Sunken (greeny/blue), Activated (Purple) and Phoenix (Orangey/Red). The Onyx tiers will need to be crafted into Ingots before creating tools, a sword, a bow and armour sets that have different abilities but may have similar stats.
Onyx can also be used as a fuel in a furnace to burn 8 resources similar to Charcoal or Coal.
Ability Items:
Soul Bell
The Soul Bell is an item that allows players to use Trapped Souls gained from Shrouds in the Asphodel Meadows dimension to gain Strength and Regeneration for 15 Seconds. All the player needs to do is have Trapped Souls in their Hotbar or Inventory with the Soul Bell is hand to consume a soul trap (releasing the soul) to have the effects granted. Holding Sneak will release more Trapped Souls (every 1.5 seconds). When holding Sneak the timer on the effects is reset back to 15 seconds, not increased so it is best to use them wisely. The Bell is useful to get an edge over mobs after taking damage.
Pegasus Feather
The Pegasus Feather is an item that provide the player with the Slow Falling effect when held only in the Off-Hand. The effect is not limited like the potion so as long as it's in the player's hand they have unlimited Slow Falling potential from heights. The effect will be limited to the 0 second mark however so the player will lose it if not careful and removing the item from their hand or the effect disappearing when on the ground as it only applies in the air.
Cloud In A Bottle
The Cloud In A Bottle allows the player to double jump when Sneaking. The player is also granted Resistance for 1 second after using the item. The item is a reference to Terraria's.
Kharon's Amulet
Kharon's Amulet allows the player to navigate the Water/Oceans in the Asphodel Meadows dimension without taking damage.
In the 1.0 version (1.14/1.15 builds) this item was known as the '' and functioned more as...
Magic Mirror
The Magic Mirror is an item that allows players to set a position and teleport to it a limit of 10 times. To Prime Coordinates the player must Sneak, once primed the player can right click to teleport to the set coordinates. The tooltip lets the player know the current coordinates the player will be teleported to. If the player wants to set new coordinates they just need to Sneak again.
Astral Staff
The Astral Staff is an item that changes the player into a Dark Form Spectator like being for 5 seconds, the same bar used for the Onyx Swords appears but only to display how much time is left (reverse of the bar filling up) and displaying light blue icons instead of purple. This item is given to the player after defeating the Boss. It is limited to 25 durability.
Firework Rocket (Forget name of the mob)

Tools/Weapon Tiers:
Mystical Pickaxe:
The Mystical Pickaxe is a tool used for mining regular ores to gain Rune Fragments.
The amount of Rune Fragments gained is determined by the enchantment/stats (Fragmented) provided when crafting a Mystical Pickaxe.
There is 3 levels of the enchantment to be gained (in the 1.0 version this would be presented as 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%).
Each offering a different chance the player can gain Rune Fragments (Fragmented is similar to Fortune and Looting enchantments but for Asphodel Meadows materials only).
The percentage/level is granted randomly after crafting so there is no way to know which will be applied. The durability is the same as a Diamond Pickaxe.
Mystical Sword:
The Mystical Sword is a weapon used for harvesting Essences from mobs (Fleeting, Tough, Brutal and Radiant).
Each sword will be applied an enchantment upon crafting (1.0 has a percentage of 20%, 40%, 60% and 80% as possible options).
The enchantment has 2 levels that can be gained, the levels are randomly set after crafting the sword. The durability is the same as a Diamond Sword.
Alchemic Pickaxe:
A pickaxe that contains the enchantment 'Enhanced Fragmentation' and allows players to use it on regular ores to increase Rune Fragment drop chance. Has the same durability as a Diamond Pickaxe.
Alchemic Sword:
A sword that contains the enchantment 'Enhanced Harvesting' this is intended for players to have a better Fortune/Looting like chance for Essence drops. Has the same durability as a Diamond Sword.
Onyx Tier Tools/Weapons:
There is 6 tools/weapons (Pickaxe, Sword, Axe, Shovel, Hoe and Bow) and 3 tiers of Onyx tools/weapons (Sunken, Activated and Phoenix). All tiers have the same enchantments and stats, meaning if the player acquires more of a material they still have a chance at the benefits offered by Onyx tier equipment.
Though the benefits are the same they do offer unique benefits not available on other tiers of gear.
This tier allows for a 4th level of the Fragmentation/Harvest enchantment not achieveable on other pickaxes and swords so they can be a beneficial upgrade and so the player doesn't need to waste resources trying to reach the highest level or make more repairs on the prior tiers.
This tier also provides many enchantments for the specific tools/weapons. Such as:
-Fortune 2 and Efficiency 5 on all 3 Pickaxes tiers,
-Sharpness 5 and Looting 3 on all 3 Swords,
-Sharpness 5 and Looting 2 on all 3 Axes,
-Unbreaking 5 and Efficiency 5 on all 3 Shovels,
-Fortune 2 and Unbreaking 5 on all 3 Hoes
-along with Flame, Infinity and Power 3 on all 3 Bows.
Note: Onyx Swords, Axes and Bows all contain the Enhanced Harvesting enchantments, giving the player 3 weapon options for the enchantment for Essence harvesting.
The tools and swords offer the same as Netherite but the Bows provide the same durability as a regular Bow.
These enchantments include:
-Detector
Detector is an enchantment that only appears on Onyx tier Pickaxes and allows players to see a highlight of ores in 8 block radius. Each highlight colour reflects the ore (Coal is Black, Iron and Quartz is White, Lapis is Blue, Redstone is Red, Yellow is Gold, Green is Emerald, Cyan is Diamond and Netherite is Grey)
-Soul Burst
Soul Burst is an enchantment that are only obtainable on Onyx tier Swords, this enchantment allows players to sneak to charge up a Burst attack to harm mobs. (In 1.0 this required the player to hunt mobs to charge up the ability). The player will see a bar above the hotbar and enchantment letters when charging, before ending off with an Explosion effect.
-Tree Fall
Tree Fall is an enchantment that are only present on Onyx tier Axes that allows for harvesting all logs when sneaking.
-Magnet
Magnet is an enchantment that only exists on Onyx tier Shovels and allows for an 8 block Magnetization of items around the player.
-Auto Plant
Auto Plant is an enchantment that only applies to Onyx tier Hoes and allows for harvesting/replanting/fertilizing crops.
Armour Tiers:
Note:
All "Infused armour" tiers offer the same durability (same stats as Iron) but offer differing stats for things like more protection/armour points, healing abilities, strength bonuses and a speed boost.
Infused Armor (Healing/made with Radiant Rune):
Healing Infused Armour is a tier of armour that allows the player to obtain more hearts. The Helmet offers +3 Max Health (1.5 hearts), Chestplate +8 Max Health (4 hearts), Leggings +6 Max Health (3 hearts) and Boots +3 Max Health (1.5 hearts). A full set allows the player to acquire another 10 hearts/20 health/a second health bar.
Infused Armor (Strength/Brutal Rune):
Strength Infused Armour is a tier of armour that grants the player more attack damage (an increased percentage). With the Helmet offering +15% Attack Damage, the Chestplate +40% Attack Damage, Leggings +30% Attack Damage and Boots +15% Attack Damage.
Infused Armour (Speed/Fleeting Rune):
Speed Infused Armour offers the player a speed boost with each piece of armour. 15+ movement speed with the Helmet, +40 with the Chestplate, +30 with Leggings and +15 with Boots. At a guess it's more comparable to Speed 3 or 4 with a full set of the armour, but without a time limit/need to reapply potions as the ability is on the armour pieces.
Infused Armour (Armoured/Tough Rune):
The Armour tier Infused Armour grants the player additional armour bar stats. The Helmet gives the player +4 armour, Chestplate +12 armour, Leggings +10 armour and Boots +4 armour. The armour allows for +10 more than Diamond and Netherite (20 armour points) as with a full set the armour grants the player +30 armour points.
Dimension:
The Asphodel Meadows dimension is a place with a few structures (boss arena, campfire, tower, Vase, etc.), a boss, loot, deserted lands with dead trees, withering oceans, Shrouds and more.
To get to the dimension the player must use Crying Obsidian to make the same structure as the Nether Portal and lighting 1 of the blocks with a Flint and Steel.
Note: The portal can only be created in the Overworld however.
a
Mobs:
Shroud:
Shrouds are the common mobs in the Asphodel Meadows, they are known for targeting the player with a Guardian like ranged attack and when defeated will drop Trapped Souls. These souls can be used alongside a Soul Bell to give the player healing/regeneration.
Created Alternative Wiki for some AM old and new content, SirPumpkinSteins' other creations (the smaller gear based ones), video reviews/downloads/descriptions to all of them, Inventory Tweaks their latest info/links
The wiki is no more updated than this thread is. I haven't used the datapack in a while but if looking for 1.16.4/older AM 2.0 info it's there. For more look to the Planet Minecraft link here for newer 2.0 content/descriptions
Don't have much else to say other than may or may not focus on this wiki over this thread, or it may be the wiki stays this way as I'm the only one updating it no one else really has even though I said I was making one. Many team members have been busy or are doing their own thing I think.
