I have forge versions 1.14.4 and 1.12.2 (incase the mods i wanted to use might have been outdated or something).
I've made sure that the mods i am using are ".jar" and they are in a mods folder. I think my issue is that when i go to the "game directory" for forge and go to folder ".minecraft'>"mods" i am put into a loop where it shows other folders and i have to keep going to the "mods" folder to find the mods i downloaded (ex. ".minecraft">"Mods">"mods">"mods")
the mods i am trying to download are
>rogue like doungeons
and i am downloading them from minecraft mods which directs me to curse forge
First uninstall Forge 1.14.2 as this may be the cause of the loop and then do the same thing with Forge 1.12.2, then you delete the Mods folder (the first one) and reinstall Forge 1.12.2 preferably in original site there you open version 1.12.2 of forge and after opening close and install the mods in the folder that was created (mods) and if any error send me a print of the error to see if I can help
Multiple folders in your .minecraft/mods should solve this problem, keep in mind though mods will not be loaded through those folders in 1.13+ versions of Forge only 1.12.2 and below, so for 1.13+ your basically just separating them to put them away in and out of the mods folder and that version number so you can know what it's for (I do this with Forge and Rift and Fabric for 1.13.2 and recent 1.14 versions all the time since I cover mods on different versions a lot for videos). Otherwise I'd say if you have tons of Forge versions installed remove the outdated ones and leave maybe the most recent 2, just encase.
Each folder for a different version of mods and different modloaders to be used whenver ready
