If coordinates are what your after try ASH - Another Simple HUD with a coordinates display. If you want a minimap mod, Antique Atlas Unofficial Fork is good enough but doesn't have all the features just yet. Otherwise there is Crowmap that is a map focused mod but I can't say much about it since I don't know really how it works due to Vanilla maps not being a thing I use often or well.
That's about it off the top of my head though. If you'd like to find other mods that might be possible for the same task try the "Fabric Discussion Thread" and the '1.14 Release Broken Down List' or '1.14 Snapshot/Pre-Release Broken Down List' to see what options there are that I have listed but I might not have a clue what else is out there right now since I document a lot of mods updating these days and it's not easy to always keep track or pick out what suits a feature a player wants that has been updated to Rift or Fabric sometimes in comments like these.
I try to list every mod I can when I see them on curseforge or in the Fabric Discord and linking to GitHub (that are intended for players though, even recipe tweaking mods) so your bound to find something.
I try to when I know what exists for mods for 1.13/1.14 at least since I focus on them so much.
Your very welcome.
I'm not sure either, I have been playing 1.14 Vanilla and trying out maps to about 3 different scales so far and I can see what you mean (I usually ignored them but 1.14 and new features so using blocks for the sake of trying them out and such or using features I usually ignore, I just can't help but learn them then go for mods and focus only on them for the rest of the time I play the game while using the blocks I do enjoy from updates), they are a bit awkward to get used to and the way they work only covers so much when players want to explore a lot without getting lost all the time and a minimap is a lot better, which big maps are even better once you cover enough ground or to find the right biome to make a base I guess also suits many people rather than just exploration for structures or mining.
Minimap mods for Fabric/1.14 has been talked about but not sure what the situation is. With the common ones though they will stick with Forge I assume and move to 1.13.2, but Rift has Voxel and it hasn't been updated 1.13.2 since so I don't know what to think if a new one pops up or not.
Yeah, it looks like mod support development is way behind the times as well, making it all more difficult. I can't believe forge isn't solid on 1.13 yet, and it could be a year before they have a solid 1.14 version. At least fabric is working on 1.14, so we can use that content for now.
For Forge it is because they wanted to clean up code and better Forge so that legacy code wasn't left over that might burden or not be used anymore. It's why Forge 1.13 took so long from what I've heard. I think 1.14 Forge won't take too long which seemed the case around the 1.8 to 1.12.2 versions and how long they took as they didn't seem to bad inbetween each for release times, even if Forge 1.13.2 is in Public Beta and mods are making their way to be stable or getting ready to support Forge 1.13.2 properly over time. It is good we have the other modloaders like Rift & Fabric though, but I have no clue about Liteloader's development even though they probably are working on it just the backend I guess.
But we will see as time goes on what really happens.
Also came across this when updating the Fabric Thread today, might be of use to you.
