In every minecraft version past 1.7.10, there has been an absence of any means to control the biomes mobs may spawn in. I find this deeply problematic as the default biome dictionary leads to results that I find downright immersion breaking. Yet no mods exist past 1.7.10 that can change where mobs from both vanilla and modded minecraft can spawn. Is there some structural issue going on?
I came across this, I don't know many more besides I guess Custom Mob Spawner (since obviously Mo' Creatures uses it) since I don't use these mods usually.

I just checked over both my (in control's wiki) and mauveCloud0's mod choices and when you look at them, it seems possible (not an expert at this sort of stuff so I could be wrong and think I understand and they could be more basic, won't know until using the mods/experimenting). I'd assume the correct naming/parameters would be needed for biomes or dimensions if it were modded biomes, if your talking about something like 'extreme hills edge' or odd biome types like that maybe it might work but I don't know for sure.
Otherwise can you give me an example of custom biome groups. Because I'd be guessing something along the lines of temperature or other factors for biome groups and I don't think they cover that wide of a scope but rather individual biomes or dimensions instead of say 'temperate, cold, ocean, hot' biome groups.
The In-control mod focuses on mob groups rather than biome groups I'd say after a look more at it's wiki for the configs/specifics.
No Mob Spawning not sure besides it having a 'spawning group size'.
I'd say check both out and if what is stated on the wikis is enough to answer that also then they might not have what your looking for. But you'll know it better than I will of course.
In Control's wiki, look through the biome options:
The closest I found on the wiki for the mod you stated to see the options it has was this (referencing image below).
Boolean spawning might not be relevant to the others I think.
In terms of range and other details for mob spawning in biomes I'm not sure if the others do or not. Again I've not used either mod before so I'm just looking through the possibilities on the wikis of either.

It isn't obvious from the name, but there is this mod that can be configured to do what you describe:

The description for it state 'where they can spawn' so I assume this suits what your looking for.

Do these mods have support for custom biome groups?
