I'm checking to find out if there is another mod that has the feature where you mined a stone or an ore, they turned into rocks (not a block). Here's a good example of a mod that has the feature:
Survivalist
Improved Extraction
It took me a while to find "Improved Extraction" and it was pretty hard to google a specific mod with wordings that describe the feature. I would appreciate if you know other mods that have a similar feature, you can share it or not.
Survivalist is a good one. Sadly I don't know many mods that do this for 1.12 versions besides Survivalist. The 1.7.10 mod I know that does this is Cogs of the Machine but its been abandoned for a while and again, its a 1.7.10 mod so its unrelated to this 1.12.2 tagged thread asking such a question. It uses its stone into rocks setup so they are throwable or maybe can be recrafted into cobble I think.
I'll link it here for the forums mention of it. You can just use it for the sake of looking so you understand what I mean at least, but yeah I don't know many for 1.12.2 that do this sort of thing for Stone into Rocks but I'll share this one at least since I have used it often in 1.7.10 and sometimes go back to. This mod isn't very well known I think either, either due to its abandonment too frequently between its other versions, or just in general. I've wanted to do a spotlight on it myself for documenting sake at least but haven't gotten around to it coming out right enough yet.
I'd assume if it came down to realism/1.12.2 mods maybe Reasonable Realism's options might do that, Harder Ores from that collection of mods might have it, but I don't know for sure, I just feel like it would be the type to do so?
I see. that's quite interesting but it's a shame to see a mod abandoned like "Cogs of the machine". Don't worry about it. I'm just gathering information to see if there's another mod or not. Besides that, it took me like a week to find another mod which happened to be "improved extraction".
I've heard of harder ores... I wasn't able to find a good review of harder ores on youtube, but I did find a good information on the wiki. it's interesting though.
Your very welcome, glad I could assist. I have similar going on with documenting Rift or Tesla mods and its taking a while to update them but its worth it besides the somewhat and otherwise not too bad process to find info on them. I also wanted to find mods exclusive to versions at one point because I was curious and bored, sort of in the way people look at console game exclusives I guess you could say I was going along the lines of. Not many of those mods are too interesting sometimes but other times you find interesting ideas here and there even for the stretch of 'why look for mods in an exclusive mindset, that's crazy?' But eh, my curiosity sometimes. XD
Well, good luck with finding any more mods that do this sort of thing, I'd be surprised to find out more I think, it could lead to a lot of interesting ideas for modpacks or experiences in general, maybe even more mods that can focus on this idea in a certain way besides their other features they have at least I feel. I've not tried Improved Extraction though I believe so I might give it a go now that I think about it.

Yes it has. Immersive Underground is a great mod for that sort of thing yes, it is for Fabric of course not Forge. There is more for 1.12.2 and prior than there is 1.14 but I document a lot so I forget what is for what versions and I also wanted to stick with what you were after at the time. Immersive 1.12.2 mods.
Fabric, I am not familiar with it. I had to look it up and now I see what it is.
I don't know there was another loader aside Forge... I am still using Forge and I have that mod installed (divergent underground). Yeah it's good idea to stick with 1.12.2. I don't know about 1.14.4. it is always hard to tell regarding the future.
It is hard to tell the future. Fabric been around since 18w50a/1.14 snapshots (almost getting to a year now) but it's more popular in the niche side of the modding community compared to the 'mainstream' like Forge is. So not many people have heard of it or are likely to use it unless your in the 1.14+ side of the community (I myself am part of both) due to it being so recent but also in terms of 'big names' and cool ideas that have been around for years.
Modloader, Liteloader, Rift and Fabric are all modloaders alongside Forge between Beta and 1.14.4, Forge just has everything people want/are after mod and development wise now and probably did back when Modloader was around during Beta (Forge was around during Beta) before disappearing during Release 1.6 (it's big mod I know of was Redpower, don't know much about this one myself) and then the other three just came about at different times Liteloader at 1.7.2 to 1.12.2 with VoxelMap/Autofish as big mods, Rift in 1.13 and now Fabric in 1.14 and 1.15 snapshots. That I've just learned from the wiki besides using them and coming across the big mods with them in Liteloader case.
hmm i thought "terrafirmcraft" is the biggest mod regarding the file size. It change everything how minecraft work and make the survival more harsher and harder. I supposed that there are other big mods. Red Power, i am a bit familiar with it. There is another mod similar to Red Power called "Project Red".
that was a good lesson to learn about loaders for minecraft. thanks for sharing.
Terrafirmacraft is up for being one of the biggest, at least for realistic mods compared to Adventure/Dimensional/RPG like DivineRPG, mob mods like Mo' Creatures or Tech mods like Mekanism.
Keeping it to the thread:
I've used it once but it just wasn't for me but it is a great mod if you have the patience/time and want a real challenge compared to most 'hardcore/changing the start' type mods like Better Beginnings [https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/betterbeginnings-mod],
TSON Craft 5 [https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/tson-craft] (was tech/magic with survival elements before but split into OmegaCraft for tech, LordCraft for magic and kept/expanded the hardcore survival elements in 5).
If you wanted more 'hardcore' starts over realistic I'd say give them a go. I think there is a few stone/biome like mods too but I forget there names. I'd say take a look at this search for some that fit that.
I don't know many mods for 1.12.2 at least more so for 1.7.10 or 1.10.2 so I can't think of others to recommend that are 'realistic' that (never looked for many mods for 1.12.2 I think overall). Like I've used Thirst, and other mods that have stamina and I know of the Spice of Life/AppleSkin combo people use in modpacks A LOT but not much else now that I think about it.
From a few quick looks and a search I think these might work.
Redpower is good, there is 2 big ones besides the small mods that take elements from it like Teckle. Project Red and BluePower being the 2 obvious RedPower continuations, Blue Power having everything in 1 file, while Project Red is modular with it's tech, logic, lighting and so on, like BuildCraft does. I have used both for a bit.
No problem. I am more familiar with the latter as I've used them, (Liteloader more recently but mostly Forge and Rift/Fabric when they came about in the last year) but Modloader I just know bits and pieces from old forum threads and wikis, I've never used it myself or if I have only in pre-made modpacks from 1.2.5.

Hopefully either of those two help, even if one is 1.7.10 and the other I have a hunch it might but am only guessing rather than knowing about.

It have been a while.
I found another mod which is more like updated and rewritten mod of "Improved Extraction" and it also account for other mod's ores. check this out:
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/divergent-underground
There is also "Immersive Underground" for 1.14.X
