Hi. I'm currently running Minecraft 1.12.2. I want to use the laser drills in Industrial Foregoing mod but I can't get Tesla to work to give me energy to run the laser. It's been correctly installed and shows up in my mods list but doesn't show up in game. I've tried uninstalling the mod and reinstalling any other ideas?
Interesting, I don't know how much Industrial Foregoing supports FE or RF over Tesla anymore, but it still does of course. But if you need a mod to get Tesla power to work with RF, try the Teslafied mod if you haven't already. Just encase really if its focusing on RF or FE over Tesla. (Link here: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/teslafied )
Otherwise Tesla Core Lib is needed for Industrial Foregoing of course which isn't that hard to work out. A good mod to test what works with Tesla Core Lib as made by the same creator is 'Powered Thingies' which was called Tesla Powered Thingies but later dropped the name but not the Tesla Power API support. It has the configurable sides I think Industrial Foregoing has also, from memory, I haven't used Industrial Foregoing in a while though so forgive me if I'm wrong. Powered Thinges Mod Link: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/powered-thingies
Other good Tesla Power API mods are Solar Village for Tesla generators which is made by the Tesla creators themselves, so if anything Tesla is going to work, it should be this mod. If you can't get something like the Industrial Foregoing generators to be clearer if Tesla works with them. Just that Solar Village's solar panel works, but configurable sides are still important usually. And Tesla mods don't use pipes/cables I think these days compared to the 1.10.2/1.11.2 supported mods that haven't been updated yet. If its something else, try the configurable sides for energy (I hope I'm not mixing up Industrial Foregoing with Powered Thingies interfaces here, if I am sorry, but since its Tesla Core Lib required I thought it also had similar. and I also haven't used the Industrial Foregoing mod in a while and or seen if its updated its interfaces since I last used it).
That's what comes to mind for me to notice Tesla with mods in 1.12.2 compared to the proper Tesla support in 1.11.2 & 1.10.2 when the major RF mods weren't a thing at least, or the early 1.12.0 support of Tesla.
If anything worked, great if not, no clue how else I can help you.
Glad I supported Tesla from 1.10.2 up until 1.12.2 then to answer this question.
My understanding was that IF is not a full energy mod and requires others to handle energy transport/management. I've been able to power machines seamlessly off of RF with Thermal Dynamics.
Pretty much yeah, even though it has generators like the petrified fuel generator which is just a coal generator and maybe on other I don't remember right now.
Either way IF would first up logically supports RF, which is clear by the energy bars in machines compared to the blue Tesla ones of the 1.12.0 or before that days. As RF is the go to power API for most people which makes sense, and I understand why besides that, if not everyone at this point, so technically that's what its most likely to use besides FE for its reasons to exist.
Tesla is supported since I still use it at times for certain mod compat and since I've used the mod like that since I'm used to doing that due to its support before Thermal updated to 1.12.2, but even if its not the mod's top priority compared to how things were before RF's major mods and better implementation of the API compared to the WIP RF API from like 1.10.2 & 1.11.2 before Thermal Mods came about for those versions or 1.12.2's relevance. Tesla is still supported for the mod. Just like I mentioned in my above post, it might take a bit I guess, or I use those methods to work things out and also get the supported mods I want.
