Hello! I've been playing this mod pack for a couple of weeks now. I've got a gold chest mostly filled with ingots of every sort except platinum and mana. I've not found a single platinum ore at all in the whole time I've been playing. O.o Where with the 1.12 version of All the Mods, which was my initial dip into 1.12 mods, I am swimming in platinum. I can't find the config option anywhere in the /config/cofh folder, it's not in /config/cofh/world/01_thermalfoundation_ores.json , not in 04_unstableoverworld_ores.json, etc. How do I see if it's enabled and/or what y level, biome, etc it's in? As it's set too high in All the Mods 3 and *maybe* not set at all in Unstable 1.12.
According to http://teamcofh.com/docs/thermal-foundation/ores/platinum-ore/ it doesn't generate by default. This has changed from older versions of the mod - I can state from personal experience that in the MC 1.7.10 version of the mod platinum ore generated by default but was rare (and was called "shiny ore" by default, with the documentation giving some bogus explanation about the seven metals of antiquity and the time period of the game, which made no sense to me, considering TF includes Invar and TE includes Steam Dynamos). You should still be able to get some platinum as a byproduct of pulverizing nickel ore, though. (or possibly combining nickel ore with cinnabar in an induction smelter; that documentation page apparently hasn't been updated yet, so it's less certain whether that recipe persists in the 1.12 version of the mod)
Ok, so your saying the pack authors of All the Mods 3 for 1.12 Craft Tweaked something as I know I got platinum or shiny ore while mining. I had so much I didn't feel bad for making platinum armor. O.o
I just downloaded the configs for All the Mods 3, and the CoFH worldgen configs give no indication that it adds worldgen of platinum ore. CraftTweaker? That changes recipes, not worldgen. However, I looked at the scripts anyway, and none of them do anything with platinum. All the Mods 3 does have a couple of other ways to get platinum that I noticed: 1. Mystical Agriculture apparently has some sort of seeds for a platinum crop, 2. TechReborn generates Sheldonite ore in The End, which I think can be processed to get platinum. There could be some other mod that adds platinum ore but doesn't have its config overridden by the modpack. I don't feel like trying to run the modpack myself to find out, but you could try looking up in JEI to see what other mods add platinum ore in that pack. That might help with understanding this discrepancy.

Ah! NoMansLib adds in both mithril and platinum. Cool! I wonder if it'll retrogen. *hmm*
