I wish to use some Hypixel friendly mods on the 1.8.8 server, however, I already have the world that I still very regularly play, which is the version 1.7.10. How do I use certain mods on one version and certain ones on the other? If I add the 1.8.8 mods to the mod file which already contain the 1.7.10 mods, and run the 1.8.8 forge, I crash. Please help
i use curse launcher and the at launcher. they store different versions in instance folders. there is also a program called multiMC that lets you have multiple installs of the game, but i have not used it. the first two don't touch the vanilla folders and you can create your own packs which will be stored in their own folders. i have working pack versions of 1.2.5, 1.6.4, 1.7.10 etc...once it is set up it is click and play. there is a way to do it with the vanilla launcher using profiles and version folders but i don't know how.

In short, you cannot mix mods from different release versions. 1.8 and 1.7 are not compatible. If you want to play a 1.8.8 world, the mods HAVE to be 1.8.8.
