So I'll try to make this as brief as possible. I love playing modded minecraft, but lately it has gotten pretty tedious when switching versions. My current method is this: Finish playing 1.11.2 and feel like messing around the Twilight Forest in 1.7.10. I manually open the .minecraft folder, take out all of my 1.11.2 mods and cope and paste Twilight Forest into the mods folder.
What I would like to know is if there is a way to make multiple profiles that each have their own mods that will get loaded up, without me having to take them out and then put them back in. I would love to be able to just select a different profile and have it load up a specific version with specific mods.
It's a little tricky with the default launcher, though: you need to go to "Launch Options" for each profile, enable "Game Directory" and choose a different folder for each. idk if it copies files for you, but once you've set the profiles to use different folders, you can copy or move your mods and saves to the appropriate folders, and not have to worry about accidentally leaving mods for the wrong version in the folder when launching. There are probably tutorials by now that explain it a little better.
Alternatively, you could use a different launcher, such as MultiMC or the Curse Launcher, which create new folders for different instances automatically.

That is certainly possible.

Hey thank you so much for the reply. MultiMC is exactly the type of thing I was looking for.
