I started playing minecraft again for a few weeks now and I noticed a pretty big ammount of abandoned mods.
People either just stopped developing mods or just aren't interested in maintaining/updating them anymore.
This is a pretty big problem (especially for modpacks), if people want to use the feature of the newer releases, like the enhanced batteling system.
That's why I want to try and revive them again, update them to the newest version.
These are the rules:
1. I only make a sort of legacy update aka. I'll make them work with the new Minecraft versions and maybe fix incompatibilities with other big mods. Nothing more, nothing less.
2. I'll update them to work with upcomming MC versions as well. If you want some new features, you'll have to ask someone else, as that's the only way I can "rescue" as many mods as possible (refer to rule 1). Or just try to add them yourself. It's serously not too dificult to learn minecraft modding. At least on a smaller scale.
3. If you want to contribute to the mods by adding new features please do it over github via pull request. I'll include them to the mod with the next release (and add you to the list of authors, of course)
4. I won't take the projects away. If a dev don't have time at the moment but eventually wants to continue maintaining the mod, you'll have to wait.
I'm pleased somebody's resurrecting Ancient Trees, I was considering doing that one myself
Have you started yet? Do you have a GitHub I can follow, and maybe contribute to?
I just made one on the fly. don't know how I seperate the different MC Versions though...
Thanks for the offer. I'd appreciate any kind of help.
I already ported both mods to 1.8, but I haven't tested anything, so it's definitely broken.

Would you be willing to take over/update maker's mark? The author seems open to allowing others to update their mod since they seem to be moving in another direction.
I'm so glad to see Ancient Trees getting an update <3

Looks interesting. It seems like someone already made an update to 1.8.8, so I will the wait with that until I finished ancient trees.
yes the original author had it updated to 1.8.9 I believe. I was more interested in it being available for 1.10.2 and above. No rush on your end I had no illusions of it being any time before ancient trees if you did pick it up.
Here is a link to dead mods another author tried to help with, but it was a no go. Some suggestions are either not worth it because authors were busy with mods or other things and are still alive. Others are licensing, others are just dead and so on. If you know any authors willing to that this or other mods can be dealt with can you tell me. Thanks.
Even factorization one of the mainstream-ish tech mods died which surprised me. All well. People just haven't got the will to keep going for a game like Minecraft or are too busy. Either way its understandable, just sad is all.
Any opinions is welcomed.
I'm not trying to force anything, just letting you know that this also was a situation that happened. Might find more in the future.

Definitely gonna follow this thread. Especially considering how many mods and their authors have just kinda withered away (although, with how this game updates, I kinda don't blame them for just leaving)
If it isn't a pain an the rear, would RWBYcraft be a possibility to look at? The author (from what I can tell) hasn't updated the mod since last January or so, and none of the other mods he made at the very least over 7 months ago, most more. There doesn't seem to be any sort of license or such, just youtube videos posted by the author showing updates.

I would really love for camera craft to be updated. I really want to use it in a modpack where you work for nat geo documenting your time in the world. I know hes made the code available, and if I knew anything about coding id be on it right now. It would be awesome if you could help someday!
I hadn't realised I'd been quoted on the first post in the thread until I saw Arkyo001379's comment..
So, an update on Vanilla-Inspired Teleporters:
It's officially back! Dan and I are now working on it together, the bugs seem to have been fixed, and there are stable builds for Minecraft 1.7.10 to 1.11.x on the CurseForge project. We've both got ideas for new functionality to add, some of which are already in progress, and so there will be new versions of the mod in the future, with a primary focus for now on Minecraft 1.10.2+.
I know it would be a monumental task but would Factorization be possible to bring back? I'm not specifically talking about you, but you're the only one with this kind of thread (That I've seen at least)...
Do you think you could look into resurrecting some of bspkrs's mods, namely his core, ArmorStatus HUD, and StatusEffect HUD to 1.10.2? There are some, but none great, armor hud options available. His stuff is open source on git hub here (core) and here (armorhud), with some abandoned progress here (core) and here (armorhud).

Very nice!
You might also take a look atthe Minecraft Mod Archive for some other project ideas.
Great, more work!

OK, so the Author of RWBY Craft isn't gone, but IDK if he's going to continue working on the mod. He might update it, sooo...

As a former small modder, I would like your help. Please look at this mod.
im sure you'll want another mod ported to your favorite version too.
Pumpkins N' Mo
(TheA13x) you are a genius. Though if you port the mods, you will be entitled to be part of the authors list as:
Mod Port Helper
or
Mod Updates. Just go to the voting part of the post I made. Called "Pumpkins N Mo" Mod.
if you look at that, vote for what your helping with, and you'll be added to a list.
a github link can be provided. Edit: Voting is no longer there.

Have you seen this quote yet?

For Factorization see Industrial Foregoing.
No. That's attempting to emulate MineFactory Reloaded. Im talking about Factorization.
Edit: whoops double post
