Question on ore from different mods, I have several mods generating same types of ores. can i disable alot of them? i mean are they compatible with each other? like copper from IC2, and so on can they all use the same copper? Seems like disabling alot of the ores would reduce the world gen lag.
A feature of Forge is the Ore Dictionary. When a mod author uses this to identify ores, then similar ores from other mods (also using OD) can be interchanged.
Using 1.7.10 as an example, you can use Thermal Foundation to generate the common ores (like copper, tin, lead, etc) and disable those ores in other mods that might also generate them. This will cut down the total number of ore blocks that could be generated.

Is there a easy way for me to see what mods have what ores besides the actual config files?
If you have WAILA you can look up "ore" in NEI and just see, it's generally going to show every single ore excluding ones from like, Thaumcraft which I believe doesn't have the name ore in it although I could be wrong, running on only a couple hours of sleep.

Go into creative, open the mod tabs. Usually they show the ores they add.
