does anyone know when optifine will be out for 1.9?
Wow. Impatient much? Like Grimallq said, it's only been two days since 1.9 came out.
The Mapping and Modding Rules say "Do not ask, demand or pressure creators to update content, this includes asking if/when there will be an update, and applies well for downgrades", but since you didn't ask this in the Optifine thread, I'm not sure this counts as a violation.
Anyway, I'd guess that it'll be at least two weeks before Optifine or Forge for 1.9 are out, let alone any other mods.
Hey...why don't you guys give him a break? He was just curious...which is exactly why I am here currently.
It's been out for 2 days but has been known about faaar longer. I personally thought maybe the OptiFine folks had an inside track or something. No pressure, we are lucky they do all this work for us!
It is just a question... since it is such an awesome mod I (and others i assume?) can't wait to use it on 1.9 that's all !! Jeez!

You know how many people around here are "just curious"? A LOT.
Now imagine you're a popular mod author and you have these "just curious" people asking the exact same question. 10-20 of them, daily. Beginning on the same exact day when a new game release and you haven't even been able to begin taking the new version apart, and have absolutely no idea if the update will take hours or weeks.
There's a reason the forum introduced a rule specifically forbidding asking for mod release ETA/deadlines.
sorry. i thought that with optifine you could just take the same code and put it out for 1.9. i dont know much about optifine. sorry
Unfortunately, it's a bit more complicated than that. Since Minecraft's code is obfuscated, it's hard to prepare against snapshots (since the code will change majorly between versions). For a mod like Optifine, which modifies the vanilla code a lot, this is extra difficult.
When the decompilation and deobfuscation tools (MCP, among others) get updated, it'll be more feasible to update. Most likely, the optifine devs will release something soon (they have in the past actually released a version without MCP, but it's not easy to do that).
Things will be ready when they are ready, which will hopefully be sooner rather than later. But nothing's ready yet.
Wow..I guess I don't need to be on this forum then. Sounds like people like you are waaay too perfect and know waaay more than everyone else.
Nobody is holding a gun to them to answer any questions about release.
And, if you are talented enough to be a "popular mod author", you kinda need to realize that with this "fame" comes with people who are excited to get the new version/whatever....which should be taken as a compliment, not a "pestering" (to use one of your words from sig)
Not everyone has/makes the time to be such a forum master as yourself. Maybe you should lighten up..it's a game.
Ok, well...since you have done so, I will as well apologize for MY tone towards you.
Just to make it known, I have been gaming and computing since roughly 1981, so I definitely have been around just a little bit. I am not some punk, ok?
You obviously know your stuff and I respect that, all I am saying is that not everybody lives and breathes this, nor do very many read the entire forum rules...I personally simply Googled "Optifine for 1.9" and this is where I ended up. All I will ask now is please do not say "people like me". I was simply curious about the awesome Optifine mod for God's sake!
I get what you have said about the authors and being swamped, etc... but please understand what I have said above and I would give advice to you to maybe chill out a bit. Of course, it is your business.
And finally, thanks for the info about 1.9...whenever they get it done that will be awesome! I have certainly learned MY lesson though and will not be coming HERE to find out any more!
ps The only reason I made a quick account was to stick up for Legolessed..I didn't spend a lot of time on it. However, I probably will be back for other ideas/help/etc., since I am definitely addicted to Minecraft! It is no doubt in my top 10 games of all time I think.

MagusMoot..Thanks for the words. And cool avatar/picture by the way!
DurkaTurk.. Agree with you and you also have good words and suggestions. My only needed correction from you is where you say we "all" need to "grow up". I myself am quite grown.

ps Pokechu22 actually took a minute to explain why it may not be ready yet, instead of just being rude....thank you.
