No weapons yet; AP IB testing ends next week so I won't have free time until then.
Not much in the way of updates, with the help of Lemadec I've managed to improve the performance greatly. On optimal settings, you can have 50k-80k blocks worth of ships running with no lag! Of course that's nowhere near fast enough, but last month that number was around 2k so progress is being made plenty!
Anyway I've got the AP Literature Exam tomorrow, I can't wait for these to be over so I can get back to modding!
I remember building an epic ship in one of the ships mods. I totaled at 7500 blocks including sails. It was completely ridiculous. I could not imagine how I'd control a ship bigger than that. I think that 80k is plenty, even for multiplayer. What is your goal?
Regarding canons, can you drop a block of tnt from one ship on another? I think we all can do a TNT canon for the time being. XD
I saw someone mention TNT cannons, which brings up a good point. how will entity interaction be handled? as it is now, I cant see how a tnt cannon would work. Perhaps some insight?

I'm curious about mobs more. If mob goes on your ship - does it become a part of your ship (sub-world)? If not, I see mods falling behind the ship because of the lag and getting stuck in the walls or even falling overboard (that happened with every single ship mod I tried)
Im more interested in what happens with tnt. does it become part of the world? what happens when you fire a TNT cannon? will the projectile stay part of the world or will it remain as part of the airship? if handled properly, TNT cannons could be an amazing way of waging war.

I just finished my fourth and last one yesterday, and it's a RELIEF!
Good luck on the rest of your tests!

I am following this topic intensely! After seeing Guns of Icarus on Steam, reading your comments have gotten me VERY hyped up. Good luck on your tests, I was wondering if you could somehow think up a possible early download beta thing release date? Thank you in advance!
Hey there, been following this mod and so far my mind has been blown with what you've done thus far. I've honestly never seen any mod quite like this one done for MC before; I think it opens a world of options that few other mods could even compete with.
I did have one suggestion though. I was wondering if it would in any way be possible to implement some form of basic "floating" physics into the mod. I know that's not the original intent, but I imagine it would be pretty awesome if you, say, had a large base that could float on water, but could then take off into the air when you needed to take to the skies. Or on a smaller scale, simply ships that are able to both fly or float, depending on the way their built.
I realize that this might be difficult to implement, but I thought I'd suggest it anyways since I think it could have some pretty epic results. Either way, I'm really looking forward to your first release, keep up the good work!

Things are going pretty well! Collision is basically perfect, and it's extremely efficient (Seriously, it's insane how fast the mod runs). Also I added byouancy forces, so scratch out airship-mod. Its a ship mod now!

Are these ship starters? I mean, are these blocks that launch a ship?
Don't worry if you're missing something like good models, textures ,etc.
Right as it is now, anyone would play this o-o
Also what's the status on mod blocks?

My first mod =D

Is this what you were asking for?
Looks interesting.

Ha, I must've missed that somehow. Ya that's exactly what I was thinking. Sounds epic
Is there a releae date?
(If you want,I can help you with the models)
Any new progress? Do weapons work correctly on the ships?
Control Systems for ships are my current focus. I got them working over the weekend, so flying and building airships has become much simpler.
Weapons other than the TNT cannon are not implemented yet, I'll have to start work on those once I get the controls finished.
