Hi all, so I've taken the initiative to make a quick FAQ for the Dalek Mod, so John and the SWD Team won't have to answer as many questions that have been asked multiple times. That and so I won't annoy my OCD with difficult community members.
Do note this is quite long. I'll probably edit this later on.
This FAQ has also been posted on the newly released SWD Forums site! Feel free to check it out!
The download buttons for each version are on the right side of the page in red.
The adfly link has a "Skip Ad" button. Wait about 5 seconds and click on it to download the mod.
There is no installer required for the mod. Just don't click on anything else on the page, that's what can potentially give you malware.
Once the jar/zip file has finished downloading, just drag and drop into into
your "mods" folder in your ".minecraft" folder. The mod should now be
installed.
Before you start playing the mod, make sure Forge is installed and make sure you run the vanilla (unmodified) version of your respective minecraft version a few times before installing the mod. As the game is modded, it does take a tad longer to load up the Dalek Mod than if it was vanilla Minecraft.
There is also an installation video SWD Team made for 1.8 Dalek Mod if you want a more visual install guide.
The installation instructions are the same for each version of the Dalek Mod.
The Dalek Mod was coded using the recommended forge for its respective Minecraft versions (1.8, 1.7.10, 1.7.2, 1.6.4, 1.5.2), so please use the recommended Forge.
For 1.7.10 recommended forge, 1.7.10-Forge10.13.2.1291 seems to work for me.
Q: I’ve downloaded the mod and now I have malware!
Make sure you have downloaded the latest version of the mod for your version of Minecraft. Other websites that offer the mod may be giving you outdated and unsupported versions of the mod or even malware/viruses.
There are official download links—the links on this page and the SWD Store.
http://swdteam.co.uk/store.php (click on the Dalek Mod product page and select any of the red download buttons on the right hand side)
SWD-Related/Getting Free stuff:
Q: Where can I get SWD products early (including the Dalek Mod)?
At the moment you can buy the Beta access rank for an account on the SWD website for $2.50 (USD). (You can create one if you haven’t already). It gives you heaps of cool stuff early, not only Dalek Mod!
Sorry, SWD Beta Access isn’t for free, but it only costs $2.50 (USD) to get awesome products early! You have to use Paypal to pay though. If you don't have a Paypal account, use it as a guest user and enter in your debit/credit card details!
You can also get it by donating 1WTC Steam/TF2 items,
OR
You can be nice, considerate community member who posts appropriate comments. Who knows, you may get it one day!
In the near future a new, public server will be available for all members of the community. Everyone in the public server will be in survival game mode, except for the administrators, who will be in creative. (1/11/15)
Q: Is this mod the same as the Doctor Who Mod?
Well, there is no "The" Doctor Who mod. There are quite a few actually. The Dalek Mod is one of many.
Dalek Mod (this mod)
Doctor Who Client Mod
Doctor Who Mod 1.8
Voxel Doctor Mod
Weeping Angel Mod
Tardis Mod
Tardis Decoration Mod
and probably quite a few others.
Q: Which version of the Mod should I use?
The most recent update (as of 2nd November 2015) Update 40 is for Minecraft Forge 1.8. As it has been rewritten from scratch to port it to 1.8, many of the older Dalek Mod features are missing, but will eventually be
added. There are new sonic shades and a new Tardis system, but old features like Dalekanium/steel and rotten flesh drops from mobs are still to be added.
I recommend trying 1.6.4 or 1.7.10 in the meantime. Summary by ArchPhoenix:
1.6.4: Working spawn code, all DM mobs spawn on the Overworld and other planets. Planet generation more accurate to the show. Mob drops work.
1.7.10: "Literally spawns nothing but Daleks." Other mobs like the Zygons, Ice warriors, Cybermen don't spawn.
1.8 Update 40: Spawns nothing, not even Daleks. Will be fixed when SWD gets time to fix it.
Q: Can you add this <insert feature>?
It really depends on what sort of feature you’re asking for. For features such as Sonic screwdriver variants, these might not be the biggest priority for the Team so they might not be added immediately.
Email your suggestions to team members/ Dalek Mod thread, the support email is for people with technical issues (i.e. crashes/bug reports).
Please use proper grammar and spelling (i.e commas, full stops, capital letters) or preferably, a spoiler ( the "!" button on your editing ribbon) so your suggestions are easier to read and understood.
(Some community members don’t consider this—this is why this is mentioned)
This way the team may be more willing to listen to your suggestions and may consider adding them.
Thanks!
Q: Can I have your source code?
No, sorry, SWD doesn’t give out their source code. It will be closed source; it’s too easy for someone to copy the code from the Dalek Mod, modify the models and repost it as their own original mod. ( The Official Doctor Who Mod by AinselyMasters is a repost of the Dalek Mod)
However, if you request some of their models for a mod review or something, that may be possible.
Just state your request and give a good reason for it!
Reporting Issues/Crashes:
Q: How do I report bugs/ glitches/ problems?
If you found any problems please email them to [email protected] or post them in the Dalek Mod thread
Please remember though that this 1.8 version has been rewritten from scratch and there are a lot of problems
with it.
Do note that the 1.5.2, 1.6.4 and 1.7.2 version of the Dalek Mod is no longer supported therefore SWD Team will not try to fix it unless there are critical errors in that version of the mod (e.g. Breaking the game)
Q: I have a crash report. What do I do?
Before you post a crash report please do the following,
Search for the error in the crash report. There should be in the crash report. (see below)
Check your list of mods and make sure they are all made for the version of Minecraft you are running
Basically list these 5 things in a crash report and you should be fine.
Dalek Mod version (Update [x] for Minecraft [version] )
List of mods installed
Minecraft Forge version
Describe the problem please
Crash Report in a spoiler (the [!] button on the Minecraft Forums editing panel)
Example crash report post:
Hi <modders name>,
My Minecraft crashed e.g. on startup with a [insert name of error] and I was [description of what you were doing when it crashed] . I installed this mod from [insert website name]. I was using these
Here is the crash report:
For those who have some knowledge of reading crash reports, not necessarily Java, read this:
Look at the first lines of the crash report. That will tell you the answer. E.g. java.NoClassfound.def
Also look at the bottom of the crash report with the list of mods. Which one says “errored” or not constructed?
This link here will tell you if you don’t understand:
Q: When does 1.7.10 for Update 40 Come out? I want it now!!!!!!!
This is a commonly asked question-- lts of other people have asked for it has well, but please, stop nagging the team.
If you would like the mod to be ported down to 1.7.10, post them in a polite, understandable way.
Try not to spam or insult the modders/the forum thread, it
Doesn’t help, the team members will read it when they have time. They don’t
spend 24 hours working on the mod-they’ll get back to you when they can. You'll most likely be ignored
A team member or community member is more likely to be annoyed at you or not respond; polite
and well written comments are easier to understand and respond to than a post with CAPS and posted multiple times.
Please be patient with the team. They work hard on the mod, but it’s for their enjoyment and the communities’ too. If a large update has been released, the team requires a break. They don't work for the community, they do it for their enjoyment and also for the community to enjoy.
Insulting and spamming the team with useless comments will be ignored, besides if they do read it, they may delay the ported update due to you carelessly posting a rude comment.
The 1.7.10 version will come later. You can always downgrade to Update 39 for 1.7.10 now if you liked the older features.
Feature Questions:
Common feature questions [in spoiler]:
Q: Wen can we sleep in the TuRdiSSS?
Not at the moment. SWD Team may add the functionality to sleep/respawn in the Tardis interior dimension at some point in the future.
It is not their main priority at the moment
Q: When will Davros be added?
He will be added in a later Update. Please be patient.
Q: When will Story Mode come out?
It’s a big work-in progress(WIP) project for the team, they’ll be working on it progressively.
There’s no exact release date at the moment.
Q: I just downloaded Update <insert update number>!! There are NU DELAK SHIPS and missing features and bugs (etc. etc.)!!!
It’ll be great to post some bugs that aren’t known yet, but please post them in a polite, understandable way.
Please be patient with the team. They work hard on the mod, but it’s for their enjoyment and the communities’ too. If an update has been ported to a newer version of Minecraft, there will be some bugs and whatnot.
Just be grateful and enjoy what is in the mod for now and wait for the next update. What you need to understand is that modders have lives outside of Minecraft modding they need to attend to.
Q: How do I summon my Tardis?
For both Update 39 and Update 40 for 1.7.10 and 1.8 respectively, you need to enter your Tardis with your Tardis key in your inventory (not necessarily in you hand) and come back out. This links your Tardis key to that particular Tardis.
Hold Shift (or sneak key) then right click on a block to summon the Tardis to that position.
Q: In past versions, you could somehow fix the TARDIS interior if, say, you blew it up. You could regenerate it somehow. Can you still do this? If so, how?
No, in the current 1.8 version the feature has been removed as it "created more problems than it solves" (-Tumblr_Cat) You can place down a new Tardis which spawns a new interior. Just fly over to your old interior in creative and type the command /tardis-interior-pos (x) (y) (z) to set where the Tardis teleports you. See http://swdteam.co.uk/patch.php?id=27 for a full list of commands.
If you are still using Update 39 or below for 1.7.10, just type the command /regenTardis and the Tardis interior should reset itself. Do note that any blocks you used to replace the original interior blocks will be removed.
1.8 Feature Questions:
Q: If I place down a new Tardis, is there a way of setting the door to teleport
me to the coordinates of my previous TARDIS interior?
Yes, you can use the command "/tardis-interior-pos [x] [y] [z]" to set the Tardis to teleport you to your door's coordinates when you enter it.
Q: After the Tardis has materialized on a planet ( the sound's finished playing) it won't let me out!
That's a bug alot of people seem to have. Try downloading the mod again, there's been a fix for this in the 1.8 version.
If that doesn't work, use the /kill command to kill yourself then enter another Tardis.
The interiors are spaced out in a straight line, so in creative you can fly over to it and use the /tardis-interior-pos [x] [y][z] command to set the Tardis to teleport you to another interior's coordinates.
Q: There are missing features in Update 40. When will they be added back?
Yes, there are many missing features such as missing Dalek Ships, new dalek variants, modelled console rooms.
Update 40 was completely rewritten from scratch, as stated by the SWD Team multiple times, so it was hard enough already.
They've tried their best to make Update 40 playable. The older features will come later.
If you can't wait, just downgrade to Update 39 for 1.7.10, which will have all the older features and is more stable than the latest version of the mod.
Q: Daleks don't spawn naturally anymore, along with other mobs. They also don't drop Dalekanium and rotten flesh anymore.
Yeah, it's an issue with the spawn code for the Dalek Mod. The 1.8 version has been rewritten for the mod to function in 1.8, which means many features are missing. The team will try their hardest to bring back as many features as possible.
If I were a team member, I would be focusing on stabilising the 1.8 version of the mod before adding new features.
See the answer to "Which version of the mod should I use".
The regeneration feature will be back soon in its own little update. It will give you a option to regenerate before you die, with 13 chances (aswith the Doctor's number of regenerations) for each world. Some things mentioned here might have changed in the future though.
Q: How do I get the image from the"SWDJ"/Object loader block? ( Not to be confused with TCN model viewer)
In Update 40, there's a block that says "You have no idea what this is hahaha"/"SWDJ".
This block, when renamed in an anvil with a certain name, displays a special image. Some of these images refer to inside jokes.
Do note there is a similarly named block called the TCN Model Viewer. This block lets you import custom models from Techne and view them in-game.
(client side only at the moment)
How do I (if at all possible) reduce the spawn rates for Dalek mod mobs? It's really hard to play any semblance of survival or use this mod to make videos with 5,000 Daleks everywhere.

Q: Do I use Forge or Forge Modloader?
The Dalek Mod was coded using the recommended forge for its respective Minecraft versions (1.8, 1.7.10, 1.7.2, 1.6.4, 1.5.2), so please use the recommended Forge.
For 1.7.10 recommended forge, 1.7.10-Forge10.13.2.1291 seems to work for me.
For 1.8, 1.8-Forge11.14.3.1450 also works.
You can download Forge here. http://files.minecraftforge.net/ A jar file works for both Windows and Mac.Q: I’ve downloaded the mod and now I have malware!

It will save you and the modder alot of time and they will be more likely to help you!
Quick question.
I remember in past versions, you could somehow fix the TARDIS interior if, say, you blew it up. You could regen it somehow.
Can you still do this? If so, how?

P.S. We renamed it to The Doctor Who Mod 1.8

can i use that command in singleplayer?
if so whats the command?
How do I (if at all possible) reduce the spawn rates for Dalek mod mobs? It's really hard to play any semblance of survival or use this mod to make videos with 5,000 Daleks everywhere.
This thread is uber outdated. I recommend checking for information on SWD Team's official forums at swdteam.com/forums
