I have been using Java 7.80 for a while now since it looks like java 8 can't handle the sudden increase in heap size and/or anything is memory usage. If you guys have been using Java 8, had not enough heap size, and fixed it please help me.
Yep i'd recommend, like grimaliq said (mind if I call ya grim), using the correct version for your cpu's architecture. It has many advantages, including performance improvements. And yes, Java 8 works with modded Minecraft, in fact, some mods use methods and functions that only Java 8 has. Some older versions of Minecraft require legacy java fixer though, if u wanna use Java 8 (i think). Don't believe me? I'm using the latest Java version (lemme check the Java website to see if i'm wrong), Java 8u51, and my mc runs fine. Hope this helps.
