I've tried following any and all instructions i find on here or on youtube but it's just not working. I'm hoping someone can tell me what i'm doing wrong.
okay, so this is what my MInecraft folder looks like
that bin folder is something i added while trying to install the mod because its something i didn't have before and i needed somewhere to put the 'WorldEdit.jar' file. (it was the go to solution in just about every tutorial i found, if that's wrong let me know)
-------------------------------------
Okay at this point i just followed the instructions. I renamed the version i was trying to modify and added everything from the 'single player commands' folder (except the 'worldedit.jar' file) to the 1.8_mods.jar folder.
while i'm on it, every time i added everything (except worldedit) to my .jar folder, this thing popped up where i either had to choose b/w keeping both files with the same name or replacing it. I've tried it both ways and it never made a difference in the end that i could see. But maybe you guys know something i don't.
Anyway, i also got rid of anything in the 'META-INF' file that wasn't 'MANIFEST.MF
And then i also re-named the id line in the .json file and saved it
now its time to launch. so i make a new profile, pick the modified version and press play.
And as always i get this message.
Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong? cuz im out of ideas.
i should say the version i downloaded for this little trial run is "Download V2.12.1 [1.8.1 BETA]" the one you can find on here. but i've also tried a bunch of others with pretty much the same result.
Is this for forge? Because installing mods on forge isn't supposed to be this hard. If it's for forge, just drop the .jar in ur mods folder. But I can tell you one thing. It is almost impossible to install vanilla mods and forge mods to the same version. Because it's likely to cause errors.

Well i've tried the auto installer for the 1.8.1 beta version and what i get is this
it says installation was successful and i try to click start minecraft and nothing happens. so i click the other buttons cuz i'm desperate and it says "couldnt discover Minecraft home directory" and then i launch minecraft anyway just to check because why not, and nothing's changed.
Okay so i ended up downloading More Commands and that worked for what i needed! i dont think it comes with everything the single player command mod does though, but for my purposes its fine.

not for forge.
would i be able to use forge to install the Single Player Commands mod? i actually have no idea what i'm doing so spell it out for me
This mod has an auto installer, and because the installation is so complicated, I recommend you just use that.
EDIT: Oh, it said coming soon

Good! Sorry I Couldn't help you, it was just very complicated. Btw, on the installer, you need to specify ur .minecraft folder location.
