Please help me, I am having trouble with making a modded survival.
Okay so I finally got a new computer and I can play the FTB infinity with 30 fps (low settings) so I decided to make a modded survival.
First i couldn't get forge to work. I would open my minecraft and it would be a black screen. I solved that by deleting my .minecraft folder and starting over. So i tried to add mods to 1.5.2 but it said ".jar file could not be found please open minecraft and try again" The new launcher doesnt have the minecraft.jar so thats great. I try 1.6.4 and IT WORKS! I could actually add mods to it. So i added a bunch of cool mods then when I try and open the game...nothing happens. I click Play and nothing pops up. I left my PC on for hours waiting. It does the same with 1.7.2 (unmodded) I tried the whole Java 7 thing (Im actually using it right now) Nothing works. The only way I can use the mods I want is to download the mods and use the FTB launcher, disable their mods and add my own. But really who has time for that? I remember when modding was actually easy and "Force Update" could solve all your problems. So please help me!
Unforutnately the reason Modding doesnt work on 1.5.2 and 1.6.4 is because of a recent change with things over at Forge. I believe Lexmanos mentioned that support for Forge for Minecraft 1.6.4 and earlier was discontinued, and with the way Forge seems to fetch files from the file server upon startup, well yeah.
I Reccommend Updating to 1.7.10. This will not only fix Modding issues but will also add optimizations and improved FPS as 1.6.4..didn't exactly run great, even on a Core i7 2600 3.6ghz with an ATI Radeon HD 6970.
(Edit)
I forgot something. Forge installs differently now too for 1.7.2? and beyond, grab the installer version of forge and just double click it, it will create a profile for Minecraft for you. Then just drag and drop Version compatable mods into the mods folder.
