Whenever I use OptiFine with any version of 1.8, the game has trouble loading worlds / changing dimensions / joining servers (which is technically loading worlds) / and sometimes even teleporting. What happens is, let's use Mineplex for example, I join the server (it takes a little while longer than it would in 1.7) and connect to the lobby fine, but then I go to play one of the minigames and when I click on which server I join, it stays on the background screen (the dirt texture)for about 15-25 seconds before either letting me play (VERY RARELY) or timing out. It appears to become as any other unresponsive program: i.e: It doesn't close as soon as you press the "x" to exit it (it closes when it becomes responsive), etc. I get a solid 80+ frames in game (when I am able to join). I can easily join vanilla servers, but changing dimensions in them results in the same problem. REMEMBER: I only have this problem when using OptiFine; I can join servers fine without it, but I get crappy frames. I assume it is just my computer, but I am just wondering if any of you other lovely people have this same or similar problem.
If mineplex is a 1.8 server, then if there are modifications made, they're likely either spigot based or totally custom maybe partially bukkit based job. There's no way of predicting how optifine will interact with those and so if there are issues, you can complain to authors of mineplex but othewise....take off optifine and ask on their forums it there are issues with using it.
Here is the thing. If you're talking about vanilla mc realm servers, they'll be on latest snapshots cause why wouldn't they be, and optifine won't be. There is optifine for 1.8.1 and for 1.8.0 but not for snapshots. So you can't use optifine on these.
If you're talking about some sort of custom job with 1.8.0 servers (cause as far as I know only spigot is up for 1.8), then they may have plugins loaded which you may or may not be aware of and which do not play well with optifine.
So ask whoever is moderating the server what they're using and then check if optifine is ok with it.
Thanks for reading.
