Minecraftdl is already one the list. Their files are even malicious. I wasn't even finished downloading before my security software had removed their Trojan.
Whenever you try to download something from the website (Lets say a texture pack) It downloads minecraftdl_30278.exe O_O what is that?

Quite possibly malware.

It's a downloader that downloads the content you requested.
Those installers almost always contain malware BUT they'll never start to install it without your permission, so always read everything carefully and never install using the fase or reccomended servers. Make sure you disable the installation of the unwanted content before starting the installation. If you do it right, then there should be no malware on your computer, but any mistake can get your computer infected, so only use them when there's no other way, and use a virtual machine when you're not sure.
It can also be wise to do a malware scan after the installation (MALWARE, not a virus scan since most virus scanners don't protect from malware well). If it finds exacly 1 threath, then you've done it well, since the only file affected by malware is the installer itself. If the scan found nothing else, that means that the installer didn't install the malware.
EDIT: if the installer doesn't give you the option to disable the installation of some unwanted programs (but still tells you that it'll also install other content), then either exit and delete the installer or run it in a virtual machine that you can easily reset. Extracting the wanted files from an infected virtual machine is safe because it's malware we're dealing with, not virusses (malware are dirty ways for their distrubuters to earn money, but they do everything in a more or less legal way, and are therefore a lot less sneaky than virusses, which also makes it a lot less 'contagious')

So the installer gives you the option to install trojans? Aha, that sounds safe...

Indeed. They hope that users will just click OK on everything without reading what it does. That way, when a user complains or tries to take legal actions, the site owners have the excuse that the people getting infected with malware fully agread with installing those programs on their computers.
Also it's not really trojans, it's a program that makes tons of adds pop out of everywere. Those adds are generally harmless (though extremely annoying), though they are ofthen impropperly secure and open backdoors to hackers because of that, though this isn't it's intention.

There have been both Trojans and malware in the mods I downloaded for testing.
This has probably been mentioned before, but if you use an install be sure to alert the end user. Inform them that, if they downloaded the mod from any other website other than X approved sites, their computer may be infected with malware. Just be sure to do it in a way similar to how Microsoft recommends.
I been installing on skydaz for some of my mods it's fine
By "it's fine" I assume you mean you didn't get any malware on you computer?
I'm gonna quote the two people above you:

I completely support this thread and it's cause. Well done all!
I've read through 12 pages so far and it's nice to see that in such a short space of time your efforts are bearing fruit, in the form of owners of sites that illegally redistribute work belonging to others having to clarify their own position, instead of hiding away behind their somewhat slick and official websites.
I'm a modder in the sense of modding textures and my texture resource pack has been available exclusively here on the MC Forums since October 2010.
In that time I've seen my work ripped to shreds and redistributed nearly everywhere, including Planet Minecraft where it crops up in complete form with someone else's name on it nearly every week or as individually stolen textures within other packs! Each discovery can be the most soul-destroying discouragement to continued creativity, but with only limited free time to work on updating my pack, I can't keep up with the scale of theft that is going on, despite all the warnings I've attached to my work over the past 4 years! Trying to chase up each scammer, thief or casual user nicking just one or two textures, let alone 4 years of work, is like a full time job!
Not having read the last 10 pages or so, I'm not sure if any other texture artist has already posted a comment, but I hope both coders and artists can support each other here with regard to an issue that effects us both, creatively, morally and monetarily.
So I see your league table of bad sites being a huge help! Thank you for going to the trouble to do this.
I don't know what long term effect it will have, but it sure does feel good to know that other people value originality and respect other people's hard work!
