I am about to install a new mod, and never did it this way before. It is using an installer. The other mod I installed just had me copy a .zip file and put it in the mods folder. So I'm a little unsure. But I want to make a backup of minecraft so I can go back if this fails. Do I just copy the .minecraft folder? or is there a program to make a backup file?
I use CloudBacko (http://free.cloudbacko.com?r=1d) as an automatic backup solution, then I do some manual backup once a month on a local hard drive. But I'd like to skip that manual thing and get instead a second automatic solution.
Do I sound too cautious, or do you guys also have not one but two backup solutions? What do you use?

i don't backup cos i dont value my minecraft folder, i have a server in australia which i host minecraft servers for friends, this prevents issues with me losing saves, just dont play single player.
your manual backups shouldn't be on the same drive as your minecraft folder if you want to be safe, have it in an external hdd or on a site like Dropbox or Mega, thats the best backup you need i would guess.
if there is a market for backups, i guess i should make a program for it, sounds like a simple fun side project if someone wants it.
