As far as I'm aware, aka I'm not a coder/developer, the coding behind Minecraft is quite messy. Surely then, Mojang would want to incorporate the OptiFine mod, or way of rendering etc... into the game itself, as they did with the Smooth Lighting mod all those years ago...
Is there a reason behind not wanting to do so? Or have they just not really thought about it? I'm sure some devs there must use it
Why would Mojang care about Forge? And both Forge and Forge mods works nicely with Optifine in 1.7 (Except for a few rendering glitches).
Well, the modding community, of course, and true about that, and I've seen rendering issues with Optifine and Colourful Portals, in where the stained glass single tile portals appear completely solid with Optifine installed.

He actually even talked about it with Mojang if I remember correctly some time ago, it's in his thread... somewhere.
