Hello, i was tasked with making a modpack(1.6.4) for me and some friends, but while I have the most knowledge about mods, I can't seem to get it to work. If someone can help me out in the comments below, I would be very happy. We have a list and gotten some of the mods to work, but less then half of the pack.
Well, while I can't offer to finish it for you,(That's a lot of work without having direct access to previous work on the pack), I can make a few suggestions.
First of all, most issues with mods prior to 1.7.X result from Config conflicts, IE the ID's for blocks and Items. In those cases, the issues can be resolved just by moving the IDs around a bit, but it is VERY time consuming for large numbers of mods(especially with the number you happen to be looking at). You could look into using a modpack that pre-exists and simply work on adding the mods you want that aren't already in the pack, but the difficulties that can arise from that are many. It's often easier to work from scratch such as you appear to be doing. While I don't recall the full list of mods it supports anymore, and I haven't updated it in some time, You are more than welcome to look through and use parts of or all of the "Config Pack" I was working on in the past. Alpha Configs is the link to the last version I was working on, which was a bit hit and miss on what was included at the time. The last "official" release I did can be found here. Again, as they are outdated I make no promises, but you're welcome to use what you can if possible.
Otherwise, it might help you organize the configs on your own end.
On a different note, if there are actual mod conflicts, you have to determine that by installing the mods and testing each time to see if it launches or crashes. I recommend starting from a fresh install and installing 3-5 mods at a time. If they work without any issues, move on to the next set, repeating until it crashes. Then, remove that set and install them individually to see which mod caused the crash. At that point, you'd have to look through your crash log to determine if its just a simple fix(Different version, or config conflict), or if its simply impossible due to conflicting mods. If you're not familiar with going through the logs, it can be a tedious process, but thats my recommendation at this point. Try and get as many in as you can, and then once you start crashing, post a crash log in here for us to take a look at and we can see whats causing the issue(IF your not confident in going through it on your own of course).
This is what I have been doing. I have hit the point where any mod I add results in a crash. I know about item ID's and have fixed them as I find them. The major problem is I don't know what's crashing it. Also, I will add a download for the work I have already done.

Okay, I'll take a look tomorrow morning or early afternoon when I get a chance and some free time. You should have a crash log created by Forge somewhere in the folder your using for minecraft currently. Check for a Forge-Mod-Loader-..... .txt file or .log etc. Usually it looks something like that and it should include information about whats causing the crash.
Alright, I looked at that one. While there were a few small errors in it, nothing appears that would cause a direct crash. The older logs are from back in June or July, so I didn't bother looking through them. I believe you added me on skype, So I suppose we'll probably continue through there, I'll update the thread if we do and make any progress.
