My daughter plays and uses multiple silly mods, I have only one mod I'd like to run, amidst, is there any way I can run just that mod without having the ones she's installed on as well?
It keeps individual files / folders for each 'instance' of minecraft you want to run. Each with its own minecraft version, forge version, mods, configs, saves, reosurce packs, everything.
All with a handy launcher tool with icons representing each version you have configured.
If you are using Minecraft Forge for versions 1.7.2 or higher, then under the mods screen in Minecraft, you can choose which mods are disabled and enabled by selecting that mod from the list and then clicking "disable". (Just remember to turn the mods back on for her when you are done!)
I still think Magic Launcher is the easiest, just check the box (or uncheck) and its on/off. He doesn't want all that other complicated stuff (I assume), he just asked for an easy way to manage the mods. :/
I make an unused mods folder for when my mods conflict with other mods. What I do is drag out mods I'm not using into that folder without deleting them and drag em back in when I wanna use em again

There is nothing complicated about MultiMC, and if his daughter is playing (depending on age) it would be far easier to have a daughter profile, and a Mom/Dad profile.
No need to worry about clicking / un-clicking each and every time the game s loaded. No worries about the daughter loading it up with the wrong things checked and loosing items / breaking the world. Also completely separate saves / options so no worry about loading up the wrong world with the wrong mods loaded.
It takes a little bit more time for initial setup, but not much more than selecting which Minecraft version, which forge version, and selecting the mods. After that it is a simple matter of double-clicking the right icon (daughter profile or Mom/Dad profile, which can have custom icons and names), or setting up a shortcut directly. All of which would take no more than 5 minutes, then never have to worry about it again.
Oh god, thank you for all the responses! I have forge right now, so I'll try that, and if that's troublesome I'll go for either Magic Launcher or MultiMC. (though being able to separate the saves is definitely appealing, I lost a bunch of stuff because of her mods on one of my older saves)

Forge is a necessity for most mods, so you'll more than certainly need Forge. Forge itself doesnt really add anything to the game itself, it more so serves as the "backbone" for mods to operate on.
Anyways, the separate installations thing is possible with the official launcher, no need for MultiMC or Magic Launcher. What you're wanting to look into is the Profiles system. Pretty much, download the version of Forge for the version of Minecraft you wish to use and install it (you should be able to just leave it at the default settings, it should work). Then, in the launcher, make a new profile by clicking the New Profile button, and then edit the profile settings so the profile's name is whatever name you want it to be, change the game directory option (if it's greyed out, just check the box next to it) so instead of .minecraft, it's .<whatever your profile name is>, so if your profile name is Parents Profile, change the directory to .parents_profile or something like that. Then, in the next category below, change the use version option to be the Forge you want to use.
What this will do is it will instead install your Minecraft installation into that folder for this specific profile (or any profile you set to run from that folder), all your saves and whatnot will instead be in that folder, so you can make a separate profile for your daughter as well, and the same goes, her saves and everything will be in her profile folder, not yours. This also goes for mods, which I will explain how to install now.
Forge essentially is a mod loader, which is, a mod for Minecraft which loads other mods, either within the game's binaries (the game's files and data), or from an external folder. Forge also provides other utilities for mods, but it isn't necessary to explain those. Forge loads mods out of a specific folder named "mods", which is located at the root of the installation folder (so, for your Parents Profile profile, it would be at .parents_profile\mods) (this folder is nicknamed the mods folder). All you need to do to install mods, is to download the mod, which comes in a .jar format, and place the mod in this folder. Done, the mod is installed. Forge also provides a configuration / settings system for mods to use, and the configs for mods also follow the princpiles of profiles, they are profile-specific.
In terms of using this way over say using MultiMC or magic launcher, really the difference between the two ways is that the latter includes built-in mod-management systems, that is, all you need to do is click a button which opens a new window, select the mods you want, then click OK or whatever and voila, the launcher installs the mods for you. However, in terms of what the former way provides over the latter, chances are you already have the official launcher downloaded and installed, so no need to download and install other programs / launchers.

This is also possible with the official Minecraft launcher, due to the new profiles system.

I did forget about the profiles system and that does do the majority of the things listed. Although MultiMC does have some extra features that really do help when adding / changing things around.
MultiMC has a main mod / resource / other folders, so you can place all in the one, and just pick / chose based on the profile and it does all the copy / pasting needed. Along with most other aspects. Its all very doable by hand navigating folders it just provides a nice clean interface to work with.
One big feature that I really do like is the version and forge selection. You don't need to go and manually download forge version, you just pick from a list and it does all the work.
All of this can be done by hand and not very hard to do, but IMO for the general user (especially when kids are involved) who may or may not be as computer literate as some of use, having a nice clean GUI with simple selection boxes makes thing much simpler to work with than navigating though folders and copy / pasting into various directories. And at the end having a nice simple interface with clean distinct icons based on profiles just makes it easier to pick between specific ones.
I'm a little late seeing this question, but if you are using Windows then I have the perfect answer for you. This is a method that I have used for a long time. It allows you to have as many separate parallel installs of Minecraft as you like on the same computer and have a differently named shortcut to each one for easy access!
This way you can have an entire Minecraft folder for your Daughter and another just for you, each with their own settings, mods etc. The description of how to do it as well as a link to someones video explaining it are in an old post of mine elsewhere on these forums, linked below:
