I have been messing around quite a lot with different mcpc-plus servers where I've had quite a lot of both mods and plugin.

What I don't know is how to run a server with only mods. A pure forge server without any plugins.
How do you moderate a server, protecting some places and setting up what a player is allowed and not allowed to do if you don't use any plugins?

I've always used bukkit plugins for handling banning players, setting up different ranks and protecting different parts of the map.

Is it possible to do all that with only mods? If so, how?

Also. Is it better with a pure forge than an mcpc-plus server when it comes to performance? I've heard both so don't really know.

Using some more mods on the client as well is no problem. What mods can handle this then?

About spigot, well that's what I want to know as well. Is the way spigot optimizing servers enough to actually make mcpc-plus work better?

mcpc uses spigot but I don't know the full details so I can't really answer your question
