I decided that I want to make a mudpack, but I have no idea what to call it. I want it to be based primarily around how blocks work with other blocks to interact with or change the surroundings and create contraptions, etc, with extra things thrown in that just make gameplay a whole lot more interesting. I haven't entirely decided all the mods that I want to put in, but here is a rough idea:
I am still working on deciding which mods I will add or not and I haven't yet checked to see if all of the mods are compatible with 1.6.4, but that's the basic idea of it. If you have any name suggestions then post in the comments. Thanks!
Darn, that spellcheck changed 'modpack' to 'mudpack'.
"Wonderful World According to John"
"W a n t T o P l a y a G a m e ?"
"Stack 'em, Create 'em, and Break 'em"
Ok, so I'm not that great with any good names either!
I successfully created a modpack with 1.5.2, but its not as easy as you might think (if you want to create a quality pack). The reason I say this is for many reasons. One, and for starters, some of those mods you mentioned will probably never, ever see its way into your pack. Why? Because you have to get approval from every mod Author (and attach it to your pack), and some Authors are bent on them not being distributed outside of the ones they have approved, like Thaumcraft. Its ok for private packs, but for an official pack, you probably wont be able to use it (this may have changed, but during 1.5.2, this was the way it was).
Next, a lot of those mods have overlapping ID's, so you have to manually (if you cant find a mod to do it for you) ensure that there are absolutely no conflicts with id's. This was probably the hardest thing for me, as at that time the tool that most people used was no longer updated, so I had to resolve the conflicts manually.
And last, but certainly not the only other issue you will run into, are duplicated ores generation. A lot of mods duplicate generating the same ores. So if you just slap a bunch of mods together and start playing, you will see several variations of Silver, Copper, etc. and a bunch others. So then you have to decide which mod will generate certain ores, and disable them from other mods.
I realised not long after I had posted this that quite a few of the ,mods listed couldn't be used, so now I am going to self detonate my own head. YAY I SELF DETONATED MY OWN HEAD ! I am a bit of an idiot when it comes to anything to do with mods, and I now realise that it isn't as easy as I thought. But I will get there, even if most of the mods, and my head, are not included. By the next millennium, I MIGHT be half way done....... Also thanks for all the great name suggestions.
I noticed that you misspelled modpack above. It says mudpack. The I saw that your pack based based around blocks working with other blocks. My name for you is Mudpack Dimensions. And instead of Rei's minimap, i recommend Voxelmap. Same as Zan's minimap but you can actually teleport to your waypoints, given that you allowed "cheats" while making the world.
