A message sent out to anyone who knows a thing about both javacode and Minecraft modding:
Introduction:
I am the sole developer of the mod "MineFantasy"(I can understand you may not have heard about it). My experience is entirely self-taught, and at an intermediate level. However some of the more complicated fields such as optimisation and unique features)
The mod is in it's beta stages and has been out for a few years, however my extreme lack of resources takes its toll. The mod is unlike most others: adding gameplay, and giving you more stuff to actually do. Unlike most mods that have some sort of crazy contraption that pretty much plays the game for you: This mod adds processes and techniques from crafting to combat that are implemented in a way that you have to interact with the world in ways to get them, such as crafting, that is handled by shaped recipes and clicking blocks, with some technique implemented.
To fully reach the mods true colours, a lot of optimisaton and new content is needed, Since mods mods of this size are generally made from a team of actual coders, resource is limited. So there are 3 main aspects that are needed. that being separate mods and expansions to handle non-related content, optimisation of coding to run smoother (being for gameplay and software). and even adapting to the mess that is later Minecraft versions. Aswell, if I were to cease development, than the mod would still stay alive.
The source is now setup on GitHub, if you are willing to contribute, you can contact me to be allowed as a collaborator, I'll be posting TODOs on what needs to be done, with some details on how it's planned to work out, you can contribute to them, if you want to add something of your own: make sure to get permission first.
*Keep the replies clean, nothing off the topic, keep the chatter to PMs.
First planned content includes advanced item and NBT usage, advanced blocks and quite a lot of detail into GUI along with a database for recipes and such.
Well I didn't want such a good mod to die. Before this post, when you said you were no longer updating, I considered offering to update the mod myself, but this is even better. This mod is great currently, I have only been able to find a couple of bugs (although I have quite a few mods installed, so I will have to test again), but could be amazing. Especially if some inter-mod compatibility is added for things like NEI (so you don't have to keep switching back and forth from the guide to find out how to forge things).
I'm using minecraft to teach my kids programming, and they love this mod, so I/we would be happy to help out a bit too.
Bitbucket or GitHub are useful for maintaining the code and will let you keep an eye on what is going into the code by way of reviews. They allow for free repositories for public projects, keeping the costs down.
i'm working with a team of 3 people on a mod pack centered around MF. they have gone a littlewild with making mod bridges for it. when the pack is finished they my want to join as well. if i gaim more forge knowledge i will as well.

I might just say now (also mentioned in the main post). that I probably wouldn't be doing much code-wise. Firstly: if pros are on the team, than id not be much use. Secondly, it would be easier to design a mod without thinking "how can I do this"(that gets annoying).
But id like to innovate- it may be a mod and such... but it's still a decent thing to tread on uncharted grounds. Depending on what comes up, depends on what could be implemented. It's difficult to experiment with new things if experience is lacked(a problem I've had). So the better the knowledge; the better the outcome.
Wouldn't hurt to have someone handle the QandA for the forums, I don't deal with some of the "less intelligent" individuals that the internet carries very well.

i'd be able to do that too. I already have a lot of experience managing the thread and responding to people from when you took your break from minefantasy a few months ago.
Need any playtesters, I wouldn't mind a little trial and error in testing out a bunch of stuff. I've already been just playing around with the newest version I could find (1.6.4) and figuring out what I can and can't do.
Hey AP, I know that this is for coders, but if you need a dedicated Modeler/Artist I can help. I don't know a code from my left foot, but I can make anything pretty that you would ever need
Hey, I'd love to help code MineFantasy. It's been awhile since I've worked on something as a team.
Also, I know how to setup github for the centralized source
I suppose if anyones available, They could do some cleaning up on the Beta for MF.
As well as that: there's also that 1.7 version that i've been sort of adding to. Just items right now, crafting system needs to be added(got a plan for that)
I've just posted some information of what there is now, a really basic 1.7 set. If anyone is available, work can begin now(if someone can set up some sort of database for it). It's pretty much the simple stuff now including the Advanced tools, and crossbow/bomb mechanics. After that would be the complicated crafting system.

I am not available to work on this project, but feel free to run problems or coding designs by me.
I could help with coding, especially the crafting system, as I am very familiar with crafting recipes. Just let me know what to do and what you'd like done and I'll do my best to get it done. I'm on the comp every day until fall semester in August so I'm going to be very available.
