MCP? (Minecraft Patcher?) Um, i don't think you need MCP (if it IS mine craft Patcher) to install it, unless forge bases classes on it?????? idk

I AM NOT YOUR PERSONAL MINECRAFT MOD SUPPORT AGENT, SO PLEASE DO NOT PM ME ABOUT PROBLEMATIC MODS THAT ARE NOT MINE. If you're having trouble/crashes with a mod, you'll have better luck resolving it in this forum section than PMing me. If you already made a topic, be patient about responses. If you have troubles with anything non-Minecraft related on your PC, I might be able to help, though, but no promises. Even though I could wish to be, I'm not a wizard.
My problem is basicly the same MC forge won't work for 1.7 and I am not sure if I can somehow play 1.7 with it. I am currently using the 1.6.4 forge and I need a bit of help to get 1.7 to work but I guess we alllllll will have to wait
the main reason the forge/mcp mods wont update yet is because the creator of mcp ryan has been hired by mojang for development in the mod api, mcp is required for forge to get started coding, he is almost done coding the mcp mod for mods to start being developed
From what I understand, it depends on the mod for the most part. Mods that didn't use item id's won't be affected, but one's that did will need a massive overhaul.
i would be completely ok with no mods if i could find a savannah biome seed WITH horses and an npc village which is kinda alot :/
the reason why i need mods for things like that is spawning horses (yes cheating)
all you really need to do is play in creator mode instead of waiting for forge to update. I have mods that are really big mods but need to be calm about it
even though forge 1.6.4 is what I'm running but forge 1.7.2 will be more excited for pixelmon to update after forge 1.7.2 comes out, as well as ferullo's gun mod, web display mod, backpack mod, telepad mod, and craftguide mod.

Yeah I wish the Forge Devs updated forge now... I had to delete my mods to update to 1.7.2, which really sucks. Now I have to download galacticraft, crossbow mod 2, and some other mods in the future when forge is updated...
It's not like they can just click a button to update it. They probably have to rewrite about a fourth of it (the new network code, new rendering code, new sound system, etc.)
Why can't minecraft be more smart? They know people use mods, so why not make their own mods folder like resource pack folder?
Because Jeb didn't make minecraft. It's like a mechanic working on a car. Each car is a little different and to make changes to it takes a lot of time and effort to ensure it doesn't become broken.
It takes time, but each patch is a step further toward that goal.
Are the changes from 1.7.2 *that* different for the structure of mods? Serious question, because on the surface, it doesn't seem like certain things, like Forge, would need to be all that much different, if at all. You know, some new blocks, a slightly different world gen structure for the new biomes, etc. Looking at it that way, it's hard to see why something like Forge would even need an update.
Unless mods like Forge rely on hex offsets, in which case, nevermind. XD
Every Mod of that size requires MCP. MCP hasn't been updated yet if i am not completely wrong. Which means, they can't update Minecraftforge. The difference from 1.6.4 to 1.7.2 is HUGE. They rewrote so much of the code that it will take a lot of time to get MCP working again.
Why does forge even need mcp? To make it easier? Because if that's it then they could have updated it a long time ago.
simple without the MCP there's no way forge can give calls into the minecraft code, and without any calls given to minecaft code then you pretty much can't access the codes for armor ratings so on and so forth, remember its called Minecraft Coder Pack because it decompiles the minecraft code for forge to easily handle the calls it needs to pretty much let mods interact with vanilla minecraft via being able to interact with hoppers inventory chest so on and so forth and remember 1.7 is a VERY VERY VERY major update on the code in fact without MCP you wont even have something as basic as modloader thats how crucial MCP is else if you did base edit which Mojang as much as possible don't want to happen (since 1.5) every mod simply makes minecraft a whole new game per mod added not an experience but a different game on its own... such example of this is the better than wolves mod its a vanilla mod that simply modified the base and turned minecraft into a very different ball game.
now for the people who arent informed in the modding scene MCP (public) is slated to be released on xmas with forge following suit cpw simply teased the community just a few days ago on what the new forge for 1.7 looks like and its very interesting 3 words vanilla client server interaction (layman's terms Vanilla clients can now access modded servers without adding anything but probably can't access mod added blocks either) whether this will hold true or not I'm not certain.

Don't know if that helps.
