Now that Forge is 1.7.2, Minecraft itself is 1.7.4. My computer keeps telling me that in order to run the installer for Forge 1.7.2 I have to first play Minecraft in 1.7.2 at least once. Am I going to have to wait for Forge to update to 1.7.4 and hope MC doesn't patch further or what?

no, just create a custom 1.7.2 profile using the vanilla launcher [make sure you set the MC version to the 1.7.2 in that profile's options] ... then run that in vanilla - you don't have to create a world, just load it to the main screen then quit out... then quit the launcher... then run the forge installer... then re-start the vanilla launcher, the new forge instance will/should have been created...
No. And even after forge updates to 1.7.2 (which is going to take a while), you're going to have to wait for the mods you're using to update too (which is going to take even longer).
Sorry, you're just going to have to wait like the rest of us.
for me, forge shows up and all, but when i put the mods in the mods folder, they don't show up in "mods" when you open minecraft title screen
I AM NOT YOUR PERSONAL MINECRAFT MOD SUPPORT AGENT, SO PLEASE DO NOT PM ME ABOUT PROBLEMATIC MODS THAT ARE NOT MINE. If you're having trouble/crashes with a mod, you'll have better luck resolving it in this forum section than PMing me. If you already made a topic, be patient about responses. If you have troubles with anything non-Minecraft related on your PC, I might be able to help, though, but no promises. Even though I could wish to be, I'm not a wizard.

Gave up trying to download https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/libraries/net/minecraft/launchwrapper/1.9/launchwrapper-1.9.jar for job 'Version & Libraries'
Job 'Version & Libraries' finished with 1 failure(s)!
How did you install them? You didn't extract them, right?
