Every time I try and use the automatic installer for minecraft forge, the loading bar works for a few seconds then I get this:
"These libraries failed to download. Try again.
org.scala-lang:scala-library:2.10.2, org.scala-lang:scala-compiler:2.10.2"
This worked for me! http://www.minecraft...ic,12532.0.html
Very simple, just download the replacement libraries and merge (not replace) with your existing libraries folder.
The second link will open to a webpage. Just click on the Download (Jar)
Rename both files. (Just take off the -RC2 at the end of both files)
Click your start button and type %appdata% into search. Open the .minecraft file. Open libraries file. Open org file. Open scala-lang file. So now you should be at file location AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\libraries\org\scala-lang. Open scala-compiler and then 2.10.2. Copy your renamed compiler file (scala-compiler-2.10.2) to this location. Now back-up twice to the scala-lang file and open
scala-library and 2.10.2. Same thing here. Copy the renamed library file that you downloaded (scala-library-2.10.2) to this location.
You could also try turning off your security software temprarilly. Assuming this is what is causing the issue.

Hello darkchinchilla, I got this problem when I tried to install Forge to my Minecraft as well. I don't know if you've already figured out the solution, but if not, I have a suggestion for you to try. When I downloaded and installed the "Recommended" version of Minecraft Forge for my version of Minecraft, it installed smoothly and quickly, eliminating the bug I experienced before when attempting to install the "Latest" version. I suspect the "Latest" version is actually more like a Beta. For clarity's sake I have added an image of the top of the download page showing where the "Recommended" download files can be found. Hope this helps.
I'm not absolutely sure wither this is the server being down, or security in the client causing it, but there is a manual download for those files.

Yeah, when i followed the steps for the complier, and library for the scala-lang thing, and replaced everythig, i proceeded to run forge, and got a message saying the exact same thing as before. please help! im on the most recent minecraft launcher, and all i want to do is play pixelmon with my friends! D; please help me
I have a similar problem. I downloaded the recommended version of forge because I was going to make a private server, but whenever I try to download forge, I run the jar-file, and instead of that forge installer thingy, it opens command prompt for like 1 second displaying the message:
"Error: failed to load main class c:/users/[username]/downloads/[forge version].jar"
Here's the thing. I'm trying to install forge 1.7.2 on a windows 8 computer. I downloaded those stupid scala libraries and compilers manually just because the installer is incapable of getting them itself. How do I proceed from there to get a minecraft forge profile so I can begin modding the game?
"These libraries failed to download. Try again.
org.scala-lang:scala-library:2.10.2, org.scala-lang:scala-compiler:2.10.2"
Please help, I believe I've tried everything...

You need to change the file extension to .jar
If it doesn't work then you can go to this video
