Well, honestly I kinda prefer the idea of a mod being made using the old, dead mods as a base. In fact, completely reinventing it sounds awesome! Anyway, I'm just happy to hear people trying at it. It really puts a smile on my face!
On another note, I make no secret. My favorite mod ever is Alice's Dolls.
i did look into the alice mod. in all honestly im not much of a modder i just make semi advanced mod tutorials :3 the only mods i have out are basic swords mods. i can do mobs however i dont think i could pull off the unique features of the mobs in the Alice mod. then again i would probably learn a few things

I was afraid of that. I PM'd him twice several moths ago, when people asked for update, but I haven't recieved any answer (although his profile showed clear he logged into his account).
But I hope to see more mods here and modders willing to work on them
The "Mine & Blade: Battlegear" is a great mod, unfortunately the author started a new mod the "Mine & Blade: Commander" and so he stopped updating battlegear.
Battlegear has a great promise, and it has an awesome dual wield system/ game mechanics.
It would be awesome if you updated it.
I have sent him a PM, now waiting on a reply, note that at times this can take MONTHS just to get an answer, but I'm hopeful since he's still active on the site. Anyway, keep looking for other items as usually this works maybe once in five tries.

YOU SHOULD NOT TAKE ON THIS PROJECT UNLESS YOU HAVE LOTS OF EXPERIENCE.
The hooks that nerd-boy primarily used for dual wielding were removed in 1.3.2 or whatever he stopped updating on. It is not going to be a simple update. You my have to REWRITE the entire mod, almost from scratch.
Just a warning to whoever decides to take on this project.

Ain't gunna happen. As stated in the thread that you just linked it would require a complete 100% re-write to get only half the feature set working. At this point it would fail to be battlegear anymore but a completely different mod. Furthermore it is stated on the thread this is the reason for the discontinue not (just) that I lost interest meaning that it is a very different situation. You should have taken the time to read this statement before posting here.
I'm extremely sorry nerd-boy, measures will be taken in the future to prevent this sort of issue. From now on I will try to thoroughly examine the data relevant to a mod (Including statuses) before sending messages.
This is a great resource. If you get any mods that are from 1.3.2, I may well consider taking them on. Before 1.3, the code was completely different and seems to be the main reason for people to stop making mods. I'll keep checking back! Thanks!
Well, the Cave Gen mod was from 1.3.2, and we have a straight adaptation now, but it does give me an odd idea. An Alternate Nether Terrain Generator, based off the idea of an inversion where the regular world uses a cave and the Nether uses an open world with a sky and everything!.. Just an idea that struck me as cool. I will definitely mention any from 1.3.2 or later!
