Here's my Multiplayer modlist for 1.2.5, which I have installed on the fly using Magic Launcher. All listed mods are named completely(except for extensions) and are in the order that I have them. There is room for some flexibility in the order, for some of these mods, but not all.
I've linked each mod to the download page they can be found on(or gotten to very easily). I apologize that a few mods aren't grouped together, even though they can be found on the same page, but I wanted to preserve my mod list order.
NOTE: This is NOT a modpack. I don't want to hear any claims that it is, I don't want to be hassled by any mod creators, just to get permissions from them to use these all together in a mod pack type configuration. I don't have time for that sort of thing, or the drama I've seen come out of it.
-------------------------------------------
In the .jar:
Modloader Loads mods better than can be done typically through Minecraft, and uses a Mods folder for even easier installation.
ModLoaderMP 1.2.5 Multiplayer version of Modloader, good to have, and necessary for Minecraft Forge, as well well as a few other mods.
GuiAPI-0.14.2-1.2.5 This is used to add buttons and context to menu's and such, for various Minecraft mods. Good to have, just in case.
MC 1.2.5 Player API client 1.0 This is used to enable access to your Minecraft character's animations, letting new ones be added, or old ones modified. This is required for Smart Moving, later on down the list.
[1.2.5]ReiMinimap_v3.0_04 Is extremely useful both as a general map and building planner, as well as a way to set checkpoints around your world that can be seen from anywhere. (Has been updated since I got it)
IGN Texture Pack This adds a button to the Pause menu, which allows you to switch texture packs while in-game.
NoVoidFogNoDimming1.2.4 This removes Void fog near bedrock, and dimming from long distances and far down. Very good for Xray texture packs, if you use them.
NotEnoughItems-Client 1.2.2 In my opinion, a much better iteration of TMI's capabilities. Let's you see recipe's for craftable items without a separate mod, and let's you enchant while in the inventory screen. EXTREMELY useful.
AutoSwitchMod-v1.9.0-mc1.2.5 Will auto switch to the proper tool in your hotbar when going between different blocks, or even enemies, such as: dirt to stone to wood to creeper, for example. All without having to scroll or press any other button than the left click. It will auto return to what YOU had selected last. So go from using torches, to fighting off zombies, immediately back to placing torches with very little to no real delay.
WMLLStable23125 It shows the light level, 0-15, of your player's current position. 0 is absolute darkness, and hostile mobs can easily spawn, 15 is sunlight, where only a few hostile mobs, if any, can survive, let alone spawn. It's invaluable for eliminating dark spots around your base, or in caves. (I had trouble finding the link to download, it's a url link that says "Grab the latest Stable release")
InfinitiesLoop.ControlPack.5.0 Adds some hotkeys that are very useful; like auto walking, toggle walking/running, toggle mining, toggle crouching, toggle jumping. Also gives you more sound options, and yet again, waypoints. You can even look behind yourself while running. Saves a lot of time.
Smart moving Client for Modloader Adds a number of cool animations and functions to your character. You can climb like no one else, and run faster, even jump higher too. I like the swimming animation the best.
MobAuraMod-v1.5.0-mc1.2.5 Auto attacks mobs that get too close, FOR you, with whatever weapon you have in your hotbar. Careful though, because you can attack ALL mobs that get too close, not just hostile ones.
Dynamic Lights 1.2.4 Allows you to hold a torch in your hand to light an area, but purely for your own vision. It does not stop mobs from spawning, it only allows you to see within the torches' range while you walk with it. also, you can throw out torches, and the will stay lit for a while, and floating items.
Auto Torch V1 - 1.2.4 This automatically places a torch for you, when the light tolerance gets too low. It comes at a standard of 30% light tolerance, but I feel that in between 10-20% works best for conserving your torches while still lighting the area enough to protect you. Can be disabled and altered in the Options section of the Pause menu.
In Modloader's Mods folder:
EllianDetector This does a slice of the map either vertically or horizontally, showing you the materials it detects, as well as empty spaces and water/lava. It does Iron and Diamond standard, but you can add more blocks for it to look for. Very useful for caving.
InvTweaks-1.41b-1.2.4 Allows you to easily sort your inventory and chests with one press of a button. Very customizable, and it even has a refill function, so if you are using an item, and run out, it will check your inventory for more of that item, and put the new stack into your hotbar.
i.e. placing torches and you run out, it will put in the next stack of torches you have. Or maybe your pickaxe breaks, it will add the next pickaxe it can find with comparable strength to the original.
MAtmos_packaged Adds a LOT of much needed atmospheric sounds, like birds and proper wind. Very satisfying to hear.
ProximityDetector This mod can show all entities within it's range on your screen: Hostile, neutral, friendly, and even players, with names. The bigger the names of the entity, the closer they are...
------------------------------------------- Optifine should easily work with these, I simply choose not to use it because of an odd effect I get when there are "too many" particles on-screen at once.
Notice that not all of the mods say 1.2.5 in their names, and at times on their download page either. This is nothing to worry about, they still work on 1.2.5 perfectly. I've had no issues with these mods as of yet, besides a slightly longer load time for Minecraft itself.
Again, I use Magic Launcher, and I urge you to do the same. NOT patching the Minecraft.jar directly myself has saved me tons of work in testing, and compatibility troubleshooting. You'll never have to unpatch the jar to put in new mods, or run Minecraft clean. It's super easy to use too.

dude we need more people like you i mean look at that answer seems like a full post with links and the stuff great man thank u a lot!!!
What are some good mods I can use though? For a server that I play on which won't get me banned. A mod that changes how the game looks to me or something like that.
I'd say Too Many Items if you are talking about 1.4. They usually can't tell and it is extremely useful. I use it all the time in the servers I play on because I am co-owner. You can set the time, get an item like the end portal, switch game modes quickly, and add enchanted or god items/tools to favorites so you don't have to type "/enchant" a bagillion times. The list goes on.
Hello.. I'm new here
Anyway
I want to become a youtuber so i want to set up a server for me and my friends and come up with plans. Series ideas Ie.
Anyway wierd backstory aside im looking for alot of mods that i can use to add stuff to the game Maybe somthing like control elements of fire or water. Please not TMI NEI more creeps more creatures nothing too overused. I dunno I thank you for your help.
Bye
I'd say Not Enough Items if you are talking about 1.4. They usually can't tell and it is extremely useful. I use it all the time in the servers I play on because I am co-owner. You can check recipes, not get banned from your server for having it in recipe mode, use it in creative mode for extra features such as setting the time, getting an item like the end portal, switching game modes quickly, and adding enchanted or god items/tools to favorites so you don't have to type "/enchant" a bagillion times. The list goes on.
The X ray mod and fly mod work really well too... Just don't get caught digging straight to diamond withoutany torches or the admin will get ed (I know from personal experience) Heres the link
Ask around your server if anyone use more player models, You may want to try that if anyone says 'Yes'
And if they don't,
Go ahead and try to start it up, it makes the Player be able to have a Snout, Wings, Tail, Ect.
And also if you don't want those things it puts the first item of your hotbar on your back if it's not selected.
And for the record,
I know Noppes, the creator. :3
Yo. This is Shickzter.
I like to say this page is really helping me! I want to help join in the fun so I made this account and ITS AWESOME!!
MP Mods Im Using:
Reis Minimap
Capes Mod
----------------------------------------
I also use something that I don't use anymore because I got banned from my favourite server called
HACK CLIENTS!
Its awesome! I would prefer Total Hax if you just started but if you start to get the hang of it I would say 'Nodus'
Nodus is an awesome client that you need to really need to get the hang of it otherwise you just can't control it. My tip is to always look at the instructions of that Hack Client thing. Although this is illegal so if someone found out you use it you get banned big time! That is not all the time but i recommend you put your hacks of until its a needy time like in a pvp arena and your using KILL AURA or Mass Player Kill. The best clients are Nodus, Obsidian and Total Hax. If you start use Total Hax then I say use Obsidian then use Nodus. OMG I forgot to tell you the download page....
wizardhax.com
This is not a virus its just a hack for high jumping, fly and other stuff. Some servers use Anti-Cheat so you might not get to use all of it but you can still use x-ray. Some hacks are glitchy and make your computer shut down such as Rubix. Some servers use like ultimate anticheat so you cant do ANYTHING probably just Freecam.
This may work for a big while but I have super powers and I know that there will be a stop to this but still use this!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Theres more MP mods but I'm a bit lazy so check the dude that has so many MP mods. Like I said use Hack Clients but you ahve a 50/50% chance you'll get banned! vs = | + + + + + + =

it looks as if someone really has no idea what they are talking about, sorry this post is a little bit late. However, despite my timing I'm still willing to make someone a fool of themselves because they haven't read Minecraft's terms and conditions as closely as they should have. Using hacked clients is NOT breaking the law as is stated. - "If you've bought the game, you may play around with it and modify it. We'd appreciate it if you didn't use this for griefing, though, and remember not to distribute the changed versions of our software. Basically, mods (or plugins, or tools) are cool (you can distribute those), hacked versions of the Minecraft client or server are not(you can't distribute those)
This means, USING hacked clients is perfectly safe and legal, however, DISTRIBUTING them, is not.
