We are a team of dedicated members of the Minecraft Community here to bring together all the information and user created content together under one roof including custom Maps, Mods, and Let's Plays.
What will we do?
We will bring to you a place where everything minecraft exists from How to start out in minecraft to Tutorials about fighting individual mobs. Contents will be created by YOU and credited to YOU and everything will be easily found there. Whatever we feel is missing, we will do out best to cover those bases.
I'd love this, we really need a dewey decimal system.

Yes! Once this project is approved by the forums and If I can get the admins to help out, and basically regulate titles, then things will go a lot smoother.

Really good idea! I'm making the same type of thing, but the guide is interactive, so it can only be used on iBooks on the iPad. Hoping we can collaborate together to make an AWESOME guide. Almost done with survival. Looks gorgeous. Best of all, FREE. I would support you as much as I can, because I love community projects.

Great idea man.. Will make it easier for people to find what they are looking for.. It has def come a long way since you were telling me about the idea a little bit ago :)!
I have been looking for a central hub to find mods, maps, texture packs, and other minecraft related stuff without wading through the forums to find everything. Assuming all goes well this should be a smashing success.

And are you going to do texture packs too, as well as seeds and maps? It would be nice if the texture packs are done, they are not covered very well in the texture pack forum. Someone statred a texture pack central, but hasn't kept it up-to-date. I know keeping up with mods and texture packs is a big job, so thanks for your efforts.

currently, i believe planetminecraft is doing a good job with the textures as they are regularly updating, but when the main project is over i will expand there. as for maps and seeds, yes doing it atm but missing manpower . if you go to my tumblr page listed in the OP, you can click on the maps and teh seeds tabs to submit a custom map and cool seeds.
