Go into the original mod folder, and pick out and delete the .class files. (The image files can be kept.) If the mods are using files that the original minecraft code, go into your last backup and drag and replace the existing ones.
If you are using windows 7, and you want to remove your last installed mod (or last several mods...), you can right click in the .minecraft folder, hit properties, and then Previous Versions. Pick one and restore.
Otherwise, do what MrShellhed12 suggested.
