Backstory: Today I reinstalled all my mods. I was running Singleplayer Commands (installed first), Optifog/Optimine (a version made before it was renamed to Optifine, although still compatible with 1.7.3, and installed second), Modloader (installed third), TooManyItems (installed fourth), and Mcpatcher (ran after all the others). I also manually edited the splashes.txt document, but I doubt that would make a difference. After some messing around with Mcpatcher trying to make a transparent custom lava texture work, I accidentally reset my whole jar, so I was forced to try to reinstall all my mods.
If I install all of them (order: Mcpatcher, Modloader, Optifine, SPC, TooManyItems), I get a crash in which the screen turns the same light blue as the whole area is when it's being loaded whenever I try to go into a world and I get the message that it's saving, as if I said to quit, then it just crashes. So I gave up on that. From my testing, I noticed that I only had that crash after installing TooManyItems, so I cleaned it up AGAIN and started with a new jar.
With the new jar I only did Mcpatcher, Spc, and Optifine in that order. There weren't any apparent difficulties, although I'd lost TooManyItems and a large amount of time. However, when I tried switching texture packs, I found that I always crashed from it. It remembers my switch, so I can log back on and have the texture pack I want active, but crashing from a texture change is very annoying in general. I also use a client called FasterCraft normally, but I'm pretty sure it's not the cause because I tried running the normal minecraft.exe and had the same problem. So yeah, any advice? Because I'm a man of many texture packs, and crashing when I switch between them is very annoying.
Edit: Apparently I spoke too soon. I'm now once again having the blue-screen-crash with the third set mentioned. I seriously have no idea what's going on, and I need as much help as I can get.
Upon a bit more reinstallation, I've found that it seems to be related to Optifine in some way. Not sure of the details, but I didn't have a problem after reinstallation until I messed with the options.
Edit: Did a bit more messing around, it seems to be specifically related to BetterGrass. Annoying, that means I have to go for the second-rate option of just having the grass side texture always be BetterGrass-like. :sad.gif:
Edit2: Upon even further testing, it seems to be more related to lag. If my lag gets below a certain level, it automatically quits, and BetterGrass was causing massive lag for some reason.
Edit3: Or maybe not. I just had a crash-on-entering-world again, even though my lag wasn't at all bad. I think I'm going to try a final reinstallation, this time with absolutely no mods other than Optifine.
