I agree with quite a few of these, I am VERY busy at the moment with other projects that pay money, so BBOB will get maintenance when I get around to it, for say, another 4 weeks until I have time again.
First off, my editor doesn't actually do anything but make text files.
Any errors in spawning truly are not my fault, RTB is working on it. You can prove this to yourself by downloading an older version, say 0.4.0 and checking to see if those object spawn any better or worse.
Finally, as for confusing website, can you identify 'what' is confusing so I can improve it. As of now, it is just a download page with patch notes. If you want tutorials, as for my response LucasErG, I can't really do much for another 4 weeks or so. I would love to take requests for tutorials though.

Is there anyway to disable the default minecraft trees, and only use custom ones?
I'm a huge fan of PTM, and amazed by the ability to create and add in custom objects, but I cant get them to spawn in-world.
I'm using the most recent version of the BOB editor I could find, my PTM settings file has custom objects as true, but no luck.

A few simple BOB trees for general purpose map making:
Palm Trees Set
These palm trees spawn on sand. There are three different types: two sizes of Date Palms with upward-arcing leaf fronds, and one Coconut Palm with more drooping leaf fronds.
They grow in ANY BIOME on sand. They will appear in the Desert if you set Desert tree frequency to a low negative or low positive number. For a date thicket or coconut grove, set Desert tree frequency to 0-2.
Cedars Set
These conifers grow on grass in ANY BIOME. The Red Cedar is tall and narrow, with a few low hanging leaf stalks and a narrow crown. The Lebanon Cedar has 2-3 trunks and a broader leafier crown (coming soon).
The editor itself works fine, and other people's creations show up. But anything that I make only shows up in the console as loaded, they never appear in the world.
I downloaded all 3 (brick furnace, dead portal, Great Aspen) of your creations...thanks! Do you have any more?
Also, do I have to enable these in the BiomeTerrainModSettings.ini file to get them to show up? A tutorial would be much appreciated.

I am wondering if playing with the groups would help. Create groups for certain trees and create duplicates of the bobs that are not assigned to groups in order for them to in general spawn together.

tested in : SSP sneak preview 3 for Minecraft 1.5
This is a set of six rainforest trees that all go together. Most of the trees that spawn are a standard rainforest tree (it's based on the Bucyruss Savanna tree that comes as a sample with the mod), but there are also cake trees and pumpkin trees, and trees containing a nugget of diamond, redstone, or gold ore. The trees are so dense that they merge into a canopy that you can walk along, but there are occasional breaks in the trees where light can get through to the forest floor. The trunks of the trees are tall enough so that navigating between them isn't a chore. There is a lot of darkness on the forest floor, but since I made pumpkin trees fairly common, it's survivable.
These trees are set to spawn in rainforest only, but there's a bug in the current version of PTM (SSP sneak preview 3 for Minecraft 1.5) that ignores this and spawns them everywhere. In future versions of PTM hopefully they'll be restricted to rainforest.
To get the trees to spawn with the right density to make a dramatic rainforest, you'll need to set tree density to something huge like 25 or 30 in rainforests. That is, in the .ini file, set the rainforestTreeDensity:30. (Google for rainforest seeds if you want to spawn in a rainforest, or just set temperature and moisture to max to get rainforest everywhere).
Rather than post the code for all six, I'm uploading them to the BOB repository on www.phoenixterrainmod.com, so you can download them and try for yourself. They've all got names starting with Murphy_Rainforest_
Also let me know if you've got any suggestions for new kinds of trees to add.

Okay, I've been super busy (as in my girlfriend was in town for the past 2 weeks), I will have BBOB up to date for pistons etc by the end of Monday. [This is so incredibly late...]

I tried those same settings and BOB files that produced a rainforest earlier, and found that they no longer produced a dense rainforest. Something changed in the most recent releases of PTM where the BOB spawn density is now much lower... search the PTM thread and you'll find this being discussed. As far as I know, RTB never changed it back, but I haven't tried the very latest release yet. Edit: Just tried the latest release, and the spawning is still too sparse for a rainforest.
If someone finds a way around it, let me know! Since the BOB repository is down, I'm going to add the .BOB code for those trees to my earlier post about the rainforest.

I am also having a similar problem.
I am wondering if playing with the groups would help. Create groups for certain trees and create duplicates of the bobs that are not assigned to groups in order for them to in general spawn together.

Okay, I've been super busy (as in my girlfriend was in town for the past 2 weeks), I will have BBOB up to date for pistons etc by the end of Monday. [This is so incredibly late...]

I tried those same settings and BOB files that produced a rainforest earlier, and found that they no longer produced a dense rainforest. Something changed in the most recent releases of PTM where the BOB spawn density is now much lower... search the PTM thread and you'll find this being discussed. As far as I know, RTB never changed it back, but I haven't tried the very latest release yet. Edit: Just tried the latest release, and the spawning is still too sparse for a rainforest.
If someone finds a way around it, let me know! Since the BOB repository is down, I'm going to add the .BOB code for those trees to my earlier post about the rainforest.
