I've been trying several times to get a world with enormous underground lakes, and by "underground lakes" I mean underground oceans. I tried messing around with size of underground lakes and whatnot and still haven't gotten to see anything massive, but I also don't know if its working, because when I make it TOO big, the world won't generate.
I don't think undergroundlakes can give you what you want. The only way I think is to create a world fractured so that you basically have huge floating continents that are so big and connected that it forms large caves underneath them.
I think there have been some settings posted at some point for something like this. Will look to see if I can find it.
"Rift"
This configuration is all about the floating landmasses. Has huge caverns and coves waiting to be explored. Land masses decorate the cloud line, and huge oceans flow beneath.
a) as flat as possible (no floating stuff, no fancy cliffs and flying islands), rolling hills are ok
:cool.gif: grass with random trees
c) has 1 biome over an area of 2000x2000 blocks (plains i thought would be the best decision)
d) if possible lowers the sea level WITHOUT having steep cliffs / mountains then.
I have tried for one evening now with different settings from different worlds i found, but i dont get there at all. Either the parameters for the old worlds (last year) are not working like this anymore, or i am simply too stupid to figure it out.
Unclear to me is:
a) size of a Biome (the standard value is 1.5 - what does that translate to in blocks? what is a safe value for my 2000x2000 blocks biome?
this is pretty close to what i want to have. Can anybody help with getting the world lower towards sea level? It is at around 80 now, and i would like to have it at 64 or even lower.

I'm not sure about the number of blocks, but the value is a multiplier that is applied to both horizontal dimensions. I.e if you double the value you quadruple the biome area. So say if an average biome now is 50x50 (no idea really), using a value of 60 (40x1.5) should, theoretically get the average up close to your map size. To be "safe" you might want a little more.
But if you limit the biome-settings in :cool.gif: strictly to one possible biome the size doesn't really matter.
thx. figured that already as well. Biome size is fine now, no snow anymore .-)
I would guess you need to raise minTemperature even higher. At least according to the chart in the old mod-thread it needs to be around 0.97 to get plains. Assuming those values haven't changed too much.

Have you tried lowering some of the values even more? I think I would start with maxHeight and the volatilities.
Thats where the big issue lies.
I want a sealevel world, with little to no elevation. And that over the complete map. Played with maxheight and the volatilities, no good outcome til now. Did you or anybody else reading this EVER achieve a flat world with close to no mountains and NO or very little sea, where your average level is at about 65 ?

Your choice of seed still affects your world gen. Its manipulated a bit differently now, but you've still got to find a flater seed as well.
Just a quick question, but how did you get the cherry blossom (pink) tree to work in this? I've had some difficulties with getting more trees to work with this mod...
Name: Can't really think of a good one so I guess it's Dave's Floating WaterWorld for now.
This has quite a lot of water (at standard level 64) with plenty of interesting islands of different sizes, many of which are more or less floating above the ocean.
If you don't want mining to be extra difficult you might consider allowing most ores to exist over sea-level (maxaltitude). There are some normal non-floating islands also where you can mine but if you are not close to one getting underground could be tough.
Complete desert. Do note this is intended for use with multiworld plugins, since well one there's no ores, and two there's no wood. replace1:24 may also be switched with replace1:12 , However do note that well one, you won't be able to dig underground without several tonnes of sand falling down on you, and two, should you successfully reach a cave, it'll also collapse the moment you touch anything. Suppose also note there is no lava, much like the spoon.

I used a program called TFC Mod Manager to install it. If you get it it will warn you to use an unmodified minecraft.jar before you install anything, but just ignore the warning. If PTM is already working for you just download TFC Mod Mananger and install more trees/any of the other mods it supports through it.
EDIT: By the way the results you guys are coming up with are amazing. PTM is definitely the best minecraft mod out there.
The whole world is like that, the flat lands are at 65 to 70 the peaks about 100-120
Raising the water level a bit could easily make them islands.
I'm running treeless plains in the picture so you can adjust your settings to your personal needs.
A lot of floating landmasses. Has huge caverns and caves, underground Lakes, and also some normal pieces of world xD
[images and code removed ]
I'd love something like this, but a bit more normal. I have been playing around for days, but haven't managed to find it yet
Remember to try different seeds as well. The settings might work but be skewed by the sheer weight of the seed number. There's still the random number element involved.
Name: Dreamland
Description: Wide expanses, floating towers, fewer trees
I really love the look of some of these worlds I see here, especially the ones with big land-clouds that look like the Starship Enterprise, but I realized I don't want to play in a super-crazy world. So I fiddled around and came up with the place you see in the pictures below. I like the wide expanses and the floating towers in the distance.
In addition to the terrain parameters, I changed the tree densities. I don't like it when there are trees all around and you can't really see where you're going. I figure if you need a lot of trees it's super easy to make a grove in the place of your choosing. You might think that a global tree density of -700 would eradicate all trees in the world. On the contrary, it seems to make no difference at all.
I'm calling these settings Dreamland unless someone cares to come up with a better name.

Your settings; Your name.
If you want treeless then make the world plains with the temp and moisture settings;
But then you may have to InvEdit in a couple of saplings...
By the way, what was the Seed that you used for the Dreamland pictures world?
The seed was "Brent", which happens to be my first name.
One of the test worlds I made with these settings spawned me in a very mountainous frozen biome and I couldn't find any grass or sand anywhere. It was nothing like "Brent". I don't know why that happened.
Hey THANK YOU! I love the maps and I found a couple of the lakes ive been looking for
Appreciate the help. :biggrin.gif:
I call it (unoriginal, i know), Torres flutuantes
Wow! How on earth did you manage that!
What texture pack is that?
I am trying to achieve the following:
generate a landscape that is
a) as flat as possible (no floating stuff, no fancy cliffs and flying islands), rolling hills are ok
:cool.gif: grass with random trees
c) has 1 biome over an area of 2000x2000 blocks (plains i thought would be the best decision)

:cool.gif: selection of biome types. I tried
minMoisture:0.25
maxMoisture:0.35
minTemperature:0.9
maxTemperature:1.0
but still get a lot of trees. So doesnt look like plains to me.
c) lower sea level, flatten world:
waterLevel:55
maxAverageHeight:0.0
maxAverageDepth:0.0
fractureHorizontal:0.0
fractureVertical:0.0
volatility1:0.0
volatility2:0.0
volatilityWeight1:0.5
volatilityWeight2:0.45
Thank you very much for helping, a wiki for this mod imo is a must have, otherwise its way too much trial and error.
Cheers
Leo
Edit:
used these settings
waterLevel:64
maxAverageHeight:-1.0
maxAverageDepth:-1.0
fractureHorizontal:-1.0
fractureVertical:-3.0
volatility1:-1.0
volatility2:-1.0
volatilityWeight1:0.5
volatilityWeight2:0.45

Those variables combined with the 404 seed produce some interesting results.
top view
and under that is;
And curiously this is Glacier with those settings
Complete desert. Pictures: Imagine a sandy desert...
For those who like both vast oceans and High cliffs.
High Cliff Islands:
Vast Oceans:

Everytime I see those pictures I keep thinking "motherships"
