So I made this glass ceiling in my base, then covered it with lava. To my dismay, it wasn't bright enough. In fact, it leaves my floor at just the level of light to spawn hostile mobs (light level 7). My request is for someone to possibly make a mod (for Beta 1.2_02) that would either make class more transparent, as to cast a glow of a higher light level (preferably 1 or 2 light levels more) OR a mod that would make the bottom of lava brighter. This would be great, as I'm tired of creepers sneaking up on me while I'm working

Acutally itd be more reasonable to increase the lenth it goes like 5 blocks of level 14 and so on

I don't think it would be to hard to just make ALL faces of lava brighter, but you would need to find the class file it's in.

Either way would be perfect actually!
However.
I'm not quite sure how I would do either. Could you possibly give me an explanation as to how one would go about doing that? It'd be greatly appreciated!

^ Come to think of it you're right, any idea as to how I could do that? It's just I spent a lot of time on this lava roof and would prefer it not to go to waste, or get blown up by a creeper drenching my base in lava.

EDIT: I also believe that I read somewhere that lava isn't as bright as the sun (light level 15) on the bottom, just the other sides, but again if I could extend the brightness anyway that would work just as well.

Well, in case it is as bright as it gets, I had this crazy idea. I believe Notch called it a "torch".
But if you want to mess with the code of lava, find the class file it's contained in, inside of the minecraft.jar found in the .minecraft folder.
