Go option two!
But an explanation of why one would be nice. I could add it to the op. I like to give people the whole picture, then they can make up their minds.
While I think that the downloads are the most important aspect the downloads need to be the subforum and the leftovers requests left in main. WHY ya ask? Because of braindead newbs who can't be bothered to read the purpose of a section. If downloads were the "main" the same thing would be happening that happens now. But if ALL downloads were in a subforum the trash I don't want to look at is more likely gonna not be there.

Essentially, that is option two. Downloadable mods=seperate SUBforum. Leftovers in the general mapping and modding section. Agree, braindead newbs will also post anywhere to get their threads seen more. :sad.gif:
Just make one for [REQ] one for [MOD] and one for [WIP] in a separate section altogether called Modding
I like this. Why can't we just do both option 1 and option 2? They aren't mutually exclusive.
Have a subforum for Mods
Have a subforum for unreleased WIP's
Have a subforum for requests/ideas
The main forum would have general discussion about modding or just for people too lazy to choose a category.

Also, One Stop Mod Shop is the best thread ever.
The problem with that is, if you make more and more specific subforums, they often "go dark".
Nobody posts in them, nobody looks at them.
I think WIP threads would fit much better in the General Mapping and Modding section where there are more viewers and more interest.
As for the "Tags" Idea, it's interesting, but I don't know... it looks a little overcomplicating the situation. Noobs wouldn't know who to use it, and often people neglect to use such features.

"Noobs" would be FORCED to select one of the prefixes. And if they just choose randomly, they will probably get criticized for being stupid.
I'm Getting sick of seeing [REQ] mixed in with all the [Mod] and [Map] i think we need a sub-section of mapping and modding, one for requests, one for mods, and one for maps too, that would organize this chaos!

The massive amount of [REQ] spammage is what created this thread really.
Completed Mods need a subsection of their own. Would make hunting updated versions quicker too.
REQ threads and Work in progress Mods could go in own section, in the hope that posters will think to check works in progress, if unable to find the desired Mod in the Completed Mods section, before posting REQ!
Noobs are Noobs. We make mistakes, we learn from them, we make different mistakes next time...
Play nice with the Noobs, you never know when the Noob of Today may turn into the Notch of Tomorrow!
]You HAVE to be kidding me I suggested this multiple times in the past heck, last week I also suggested it.
The reason this got attention from citrisquid was
1. I was the main supporter of a poll in which 97% of pollers said the problem needed to be fixed.
2. I took the initiative to contract citrisquid.
Eh. I never actually had a problem with WIP mods. I never understood when people would post that they "absolutely hated when people posted WIP mods."
Well whatever. Either way, it'll be interesting to see how the whole thing turns out.
I agree with you, I like seeing what people are making, and it's not like there are 100000000 of them like REQ threads. They are rather few and far between. But some people do mind.
I had to go with option #2. Though I would like to suggest that under the "mapping and modding" section have 3 sub sections labeled "Mods" "Requests" "Maps" or just leave mods/WIP w/ downloads on the main section if "mapping and modding" with "Requests" and "Maps" in sub sections.

I edited my post, showing you my idea.

It's already broken into Forum, Announcements & Topics.
What about changing the Topics heading to MOD and then adding a 2 smaller sections below that for WIP and REQ
