Want to explore minecraft for hours on end without having to hold down the forward key?...wow you're lazy...but now with AutoWalk, your dreams of exploration without the 'w' key will come true!
Project Page
The default AutoWalk key is 'x' but you can change it to whatever you want in the options!
Here's the post that I got the idea for the mod from.
Here's the code that I promised!
Now no one can complain about there being too many classes anymore, because if that bothers you then you can just recompile it yourself smart ass!
I only am posting the functions that i changed and the variables that i added. Any changes are quite obviously commented. :smile.gif:
GameSettings.java
MovementInputFromOptions.java
*Slap*
There's nothing like constructive critisism...
and that was NOTHING like constructive criticism.
I like. I mean, it's not something I could use, but there was a topic a while back that demanded this, and other people seemed to like it. So hey, nice job.
Thank You!
I did this as a programming challenge for myself, I have no intent on using this mod myself either I just enjoy modding and I didn't have an idea for a mod so I found a request thread lol.
'Press the Inventory hotkey and the 'W' hotkey at the same time then press the inventory hotkey again to hide the inventory panel'
Which functions, although I have to try several times to get it to work and always thought that just pressing one hotkey to auto walk would be better.
So, thanks
Edit: Then again maybe I should have downloaded the mod first... It's a major conflict with some of the other mods that I use since so many class files are used in this mod to make it work, I can't give up all those other mods that it would conflict with. But thanks anyway for trying.
Press the jump button.
This just acts as if you're pressing down the 'W' key.
There are people that want a damn easy way to get diamonds...
But this, this is just the core of lazyness, to lazy to press a button.....
Well, someone had to make it, and alot of people are that lazy.
Anyway, good job modding.
A lot of games with large worlds have hold to walk buttons. Minecraft has to be the largest :tongue.gif: You should also add on an autojump so you're jumping all the time as you run. I have no clue why you need to modify a dozen classes for this though, you can probably do it in one.
The actual classes that I modified were GameSettings.java, MovementInput.java and MovementInputFromOptions.java, this is the first time I've ever used Minecraft Coder Pack and a tutorial online gave me some basic classes that needed to be added to the obfuscation list for it to work with beta (which added to the classes to be replaced). I don't know why those certain classes needed to be obfuscated as I did not modify them, but that was the only method of obfuscation that I could get to produce .class files that didn't crash the game.
*I used Minecraft Coder Pack 26_test5 which currently is the only version of mcp to work with beta and that could be part of the problem.
I don't want it to turn into Fallout 3, is all.
(though, all we need now is a texture pack of Fallout 3...)

I made this mod as a test of my programming skills. I've never used Minecraft Coders Pack before and I wanted to test it out. I saw a request for an auto walk feature and decided to make it. I like programming challenges and this was a fun one for me to tackle.
Just because you don't find this mod useful is no reason to call it retarded, it's just not your kinda mod.
What if someone wants a more immersive method of auto walking? One key that they can set is a lot less immersion breaking than having to do a combo. The person who requested it wanted to for exploring and if I were exploring I wouldn't want to have a menu keep popping up every time I wanted to auto walk. But then again not everyone cares that much about how immersive their controls are and that's fine, they don't have to use m mod if they don't want.
There is more than just the end result to consider when coding, there is also the complexity of the solution.
Hold W, open inventory, let go of W, close inventory. This is a form of auto-walk.
Press X, after installing a larger-than-need-be mod. This is your form of auto-walk.
Honestly, which is TRULY simpler.
If you want to make any use of this, make an explorers Mod.
Add a mini-map, auto-walk/jump, and some other useful functions. This could be a useful PART of a mod, but by itself, it isn't worth installing.
^ Constructive Criticism.
TL,DR.
Add more parts to this mod, or it is not worth anyones time to install it.
Do you own Minecraft?
If you only modified three classes why did you include thirteen in your download ?. If your up for another challenge think about how you could do this using only MovementInputFromOptions.java. :wink.gif:
Then use the mouse to control the direction :tongue.gif:
cough bethesda softworks..oblivion fallout 3 fallout new vegas and probably others :tongue.gif:
I welcome any and all mods so I have more choices for enjoying my game.
