NOTE: For a better, more versatile mod that has been around longer and does the same thing at this, see the Phobia mod made by the great modder Seronis.
This mod will disable Animals from spawning on any difficulty. This includes Sheep, Pigs, Cows, & Chickens.
You do NOT need modloader or spawnlist for this mod. Simply drag all the class files in the RemoveAnimals folder into your minecraft jar to disable animals. When you want to restore animals, drag all the class files in the RestoreAnimals folder into your minecraft jar to re-enable animals.
ScreenShots:
Ah...so peaceful. No more annoying mooing sounds. Silence at last.
This is actually quite awesome.
No more leather for armour
No more pork for health
No more annoying chickens climbing in your windows and everywhere.
Makes the game feel so much more lonely and that just makes the game so much more awesome...
I may use this one day, so I downloaded it for that time :smile.gif:
However I do have one question... does this disable enemy spawns if you have it on easy/normal/hard?
That would make the game so much harder and I'd love it! =D
1. since you are refusing to use the spawnlist mod to properly edit what mobs attempt to spawn, if someone uses this and also uses a mod that adds additional mobs, the game will still randomly pick a default mob and then it will just die. So you are making the spawn RATE of all surface creatures artificially lower than it should be.
2. editing the primary classes will make any mod that extends those animals break unless they just happen to override the same call you use to despawn them.
3. if you update to properly use the spawnlist mod then you are just exactly duplicating a mod that has already been able to stop animals (or any non hell mob) from spawning that has been available since the 1.1_02 client itself was released.
You need to make sure your computer is turned on. I'll assume thats the problem as you DIDNT GIVE ANY INFORMATION as to what didnt work. Or the steps you followed, and which one gave you trouble.. or.. anything.
oh im sorry i didnt realize you had assumed i couldnt read. i followed the uh what 2 steps. i downloaded, and copied the .class files into the minecraft.jar file and then ran minecraft
it didnt work
better?
wait sorry let me make that more simple. there are still animals in my world

did you forget to delete the meta-inf??
nope did that...i know how to install mods any others i use work just this one isnt for me idk what is going on
I guess spawnlist's removeCreaturesfromBiome function doesn't work like I thought.
Huh? Works perfectly. My phobia mod has been doing this since the first week 1.1_02 was released.
Odd. I don't know why the functions don't work for me. This is the source code to my original mod_NoAnimals file:
package net.minecraft.src;
public class mod_NoAnimals {
public mod_NoAnimals()
{
spawnlist.removeCreaturesFromSpawnList("Surface biomes", new Object[] {
"Cow", "Chicken", "Pig", "Sheep"
});
}
}
I compiled using MCP 2.6 test release 5.
In the new Object[], I originally used EntityCow.class, EntityChicken.class, etc. But that didn't work for me.
Can you tell what I'm doing wrong?

Couple critiques,
1. since you are refusing to use the spawnlist mod to properly edit what mobs attempt to spawn, if someone uses this and also uses a mod that adds additional mobs, the game will still randomly pick a default mob and then it will just die. So you are making the spawn RATE of all surface creatures artificially lower than it should be.

3. if you update to properly use the spawnlist mod then you are just exactly duplicating a mod that has already been able to stop animals (or any non hell mob) from spawning that has been available since the 1.1_02 client itself was released.
1. A valid point. That is exactly why I wanted to use spawnlist originally, but due to my trouble with it, I just quickly edited each animal to despawn immediatly upon spawning.
2. Another valid point. Again, another reason spawnlist is better.
3. Which mod is that? I only threw this "mod" together because some people in another thread requested a mod that disabled animals, and they were unable to find one. If I had known there was another mod that just removed the animals, I would have just given them a link to it. In fact, I'll delete this entire thread and mod altogether if there is already another mod that does this.

I guess the mod being called "phobia" should have tipped me off. Also, if I had taken a moment to think, I should have clearly understood "My phobia mod has been doing this ...." to understand that your mod removes animals, not just uses the removeCreatures spawnlist function.
My apologies for my lack of reading comprehension. I'll add a link to your mod in the main post.

I make mod videos! Ask me and I'll make one for you!
This. lol.
And shouldn't you test something before you release it? :\
Yes, yes I should have.
I guess spawnlist's removeCreaturesfromBiome function doesn't work like I thought.
