Whenever I add mod files to my Minecraft/bin, delete META-INF and start the game, minecraft re-downloads as if the bin was deleted and the mod files are deleted. I know this because each time I go back to try and reinstall the files, the META-INF folder is back, and version file is there too. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks for taking to the time to read this!

Sounds like you are using an old version of minecraft, or your version file is out of date. Minecraft updates when the version file is not the current one, so make sure you have the latest 'version' file then mod minecraft. That or you could just play offline - minecraft won't update when it is offline
I assume you are installing the mods in minecraft.jar as well... not placing them in .minecraft/bin...?
Yea've been deleting the version file each time, because before I started deleting the version file (mod said it was optional) I had already been installing other mod files, each being deleted aswell.

Don't delete the version file - this will solve your problem.
Well I didnt delete it this time like you said, but now whenever I start the game and try login, it immiedietly says minecraft updating. It's says its done as soon as I log in, but the bar isn't even full and it just stays like that.

This means that the mod has been put into the JAR but for one of the reasons below it gets stuck:
1. META-INF wasn't deleted
2. You are using browser mode, only standalone works with mods
3. You have installed a conflicting mod
4. The mod you installed is not compatible with the version of MC you are running
Alright I forgot to delete META-INF, but now that I have done that and tried to log on again, I'm getting the black screen. Conflicting mods? Because I only have mod loader, SDK's gun mod and the Mining Colony mod

It updates and replaces itself after deleted and the game is run.
You could use a older version as long as you keep the version file you have now.
