Hi everyone I wanted to use the mineable bedrock mod, and saw that it needed the mod loader. I downloaded the mod loader and moved its contents to minecraft.jar after decompressing it into a folder. Then I recompressed it as a zip file and renamed it to the proper "minecraft.jar" with the new .class files within. However, I got black screened. Originally I attempted to use "minecrafter" a program that allows the user to mix and match mods, but it warned me that due to my operating system being 10.5 I would get black screened. Is there any way to use mods on my OS?
First you take your minecraft.jar file, and change it into a .zip file. Then you delete the META-INF folder, insert and replace the default files with the modded ones, then you MUST compress the files, and not the entire folder, meaning you have to select the four hundred something files and then compress them. You should get an Archive.zip, rename that to minecraft.jar and put it in your bin folder.
Okay so I delete the Meta-inf folder/file. Then when I'm done adding my mod when I want to recompress minecraft.jar you're saying to just compress the files not the folders within the minecraft.jar folder?
And you're sure it has nothing to do with me being on 10.5.8?

Instructions:
First off make sure you have Java 6 downloaded. (Do a software update if you haven't done one in a while)
Go to your Minecraft app, right click and choose "Show Package Contents".
Next open the contents folder and open "Info.Plist".
Once it's open look for the line that says
<key>JVMVersion</key>
<string>1.5+</string>
Once you have found it change the 5 in 1.5 to a 6 and then save and exit.
Once done with that open a new finder window and go to Mac > System > Library > Frameworks > JavaVM.framework > Resources > Mac OS and then copy the file named "JavaApplicationStub".
Now go back to the contents folder and go into the "MacOS" folder there and paste "JavaApplicationStub".
Next search "Java Preferences" in finder.
Open Java Preferences.
In the "General" tab there should be a list of the Java versions you have. If "Java SE 6" isn't on the top of the list then drag it to the top.
Install mod(s) of choice.
Run Minecraft.
Mods should now work.

Any Mac friends having trouble installing forge on your minecraft_server.jar files? Check out my script that lets you do it easily with one simple click! For more info look here http://www.minecraft...-click-install/
what program should the info.plist open with? because for me it opens with omnioutliner and i have to save someplace else and move it to the contents folder manually. could this make it not work?
EDIT:once i rename it to .plist it becomes a folder. i compressed it and changed it to .plist again. also after putting the "JavaApplicationStub" into the mac os floder and trying to run minecraft i get an error report saying "the application JavaApplicationStub quit unexpectedly after it was relaunched" if anyone can reccommend a good screen recorder, ill make a video of what im doing and upload it to youtube so you can see what i did right/wrong

YAY!!! I officialy figured out how to make mods work!! First, install your mod normally. After that download mcpatcher for mac. When you want to play minecraft you have to do it through mcpatcher by clicking test! This also helps with textures of corse, but mods, o yes baby!! This worked for me and I hope it works for whoever else!!
so the only way is by doing the test thing? screw this, im just gonna upgrade to snow leopard. so much easier

... the entire point of this is to run minecraft through the client and use mods. there is a method that i know will work if you do it properly.
