great idea, but being a blacksmith myself it pains me how you implemented the anvil, and well... everything else to be honest. if you want i can give you suggestions to make it more practical and realistic :biggrin.gif:

Post about it! =D I'd love to hear about it, as I work with a guy who smiths or used to in his spare time. It's really interesting to hear about it.
Yeah the mod looks really cool. I love the idea of an anvil and hammers and using them to repair tools. Only in 1.0 do tools actually need to be repaired (enchanting ftw) and not just replaced. I also love the idea of 'molten' and steel tools. It's an original idea as far as I've seen. And implemented better than BetterThanWolves in my opinion.
Goodluck!
I like your intentions for the anvil mod, but think it needs to be improved. I would think that you could craft metal recipes such as armor only the anvil, not a weak wooden workbench. Also, the hammer recipe should be changed to 1 ingot and 1 stick. However, the ingot would have to be re-smelted to make a molten ingot, allowing for greater malleability of the iron. My last suggestion is to make a GUI that is similar to the alloy furnace in the redpower base mod. This will give you the ability to craft metal items and tools in the anvil but only if you have a hammer in the bottom (fuel slot in a furnace). Besides that the idea of the whole anvil look and recipe itself is a good one, better than BetterThanWolves' implementation if the anvil. The idea of repairing items is good as well, but I think it should look more like this with the added hammer in your special GUI. The recipes in my mod (if you add the hammer), to my belief, are more practical than just having an expensive hammer to repair a few tools. However, you don't have to listen to me at all, and keep making the mod your way and people will still love it.

-sigh- If only [forum n00bs] would read. Then the web would be a better place.
I would have to agree with you Link, this mod I think needs to be created and I would like to see this mod being created or at least i would like to see a mod that adds a hammer to Minecraft that breaks blocks relatively faster cause I think I would like create a map that would revolve around the hammer or something like that and I would like the hammer to be a craft-able hammer that can break some blocks more easily. Though unfortunately I only see weapon mods that adds a hammer for killing monsters a bit faster and so on especially Thor's Hammer, good for if you want to kill mobs with ease but terrible if you want to use the hammer for breaking things.
I suggest you learn java by yourself. Oh, and the anvil has been made (added in 1.4) and the hammers are too expensive but don't have much uses. And your final statement is wrong, you need 8 ingots (each ingot yields 8 coins, 8x8=64) to make a stack.
