The Altimeter Get it here!
The Altimeter is a handy tool from myself and Vib_Rib that will show you your depth in the world at any given time. It's simple to use: Just read the top center of your dial and see where you are! The color-coded radial wedges correspond to depths that new materials starting showing up. For example, once the blue-green line reaches the top center of your dial, you're about deep enough to find diamonds!
Easy to install, the Altimeter does not require ModLoader, but also will not cause problems with it if you have it installed!
The Altimeter replaces your watch! You'll have to choose one or the other.
I shall take the Initiative and Request a version that doesn't replace the watch from you or any other skilled modder!
I wish it were that simple, but I spent hours poring over the code, and every attempt to make a new item with a unique render handled the same way resulted in either an invisible icon or a nonworking one.
The renders, exceptions, and hooks for these are hardcoded and hard to poinpoint, enough so that even in the vanilla version the defaults override existing textures and additions.
If anyone else can figure it out, godspeed to them, but I have tried and failed to work in an additional item.
but i cant, cause it would replace my watch, and due to my tiny render distance i cant see the sun/moon cycle, so the watch is my only way of knowing when the baddies will spawn... :sad.gif:
but, ill keep in touch with this thread to see if a solution is found :smile.gif:
Are you going to update to post Beta please, I rarely ever use the watch
and something like this would be brilliant. I tried as is, but just crashes
Minecraft at startup...
Many thanks,
TG.

This is cool, but IMO the watch is much more useful than the compass. Any chance you can release an alternate version that replaces the compass too? Or do they not follow similar mechanics? I like my watch, it tells me when it's time to leave the mine :smile.gif:

Great work!

Damn, you're right. I got that correct in the readme and the design -- every space but the title image.
BOY THAT SURE MAKES ME LOOK STUPID
