With all the cool new mobs coming out, I had a thought (surprise!)
Some of the awesome Modders here have come up with many cool mobs and some gui's to select which kind of creatures spawn
my thought is that there might be a mob selector on world creation that will let you choose which mobs will spawn on each setting
so it would read the list of mobs you have installed, then let you check their behavior for each setting
for example- from your list of available mobs, pick, say bunnies- you have a choice of fearful(so they run away),peaceful, neutral, aggressive, (or whatever)- or of course none
peaceful easy normal hard
bunnies F P N A
sheep F N N P
Ogres F P N A
etc....
dont know difficulty or if it has been done yet- but with all the cool mobs coming out, we need a way to fine tune their spawning and behavior
there are a lot of things that could be done such as super-aggression, avoidance, interaction with other mobs, etc
also maybe you could refine their spawn condition too- what they spawn on, time of day/night etc
I just want to be able to decide what spawns where and preferably some control of its behavior
and if you had extra control-i.e.- what damage they do etc
then could you imagine playing a game where the ogre's are scared of you, but the bunnies are super aggressive and do alot of damage
my main personal goal is to get it so most creatures will spawn on peaceful, and will not attack unless provoked
the ini file method( like biome terrain mod) rather than a spawn gui type control would make each world unique and not really allow much altering later
dunno- but I am hoping it will be implemented soon- we are already starting to get crowded worlds and mcp isnt even fixed for beta yet!
I could understand that outlook when so much time and effort went into each mod
however, from the users viewpoint, more control is always better
lol- I figured you would be for it, Mr O.- if only to stop the " oh no, I no want HIM! I is a scared!"
but I do understand how it might be considered a slap in the face artistically
still want it though
I think what he was saying is that you can have some control, such as if it a particular mob is able to spawn globaly (i.e. at all), but the more local aspects will be locked (if it can spawn during the day, on what blocks) will be left as is, since it was the author's choice how the mob acts. I think that this would be the best choice, that way a user can get packs of mobs and be able to remove the ones they dont like.
I was thinking something like in the options menu, there should a button that opens a page of all the mobs you have and you can choose which ones you want to spawn and which you dont
Someone called Risugami has made the right mod for you
Its called Spawner GUI which adds a Gui to mob spawners
It can be found with all his other mods in his mod page. Page: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=80246

He said on World Creation, not for spawners.
On a more on topic note, this would be really useful for people who want to build and not get blown up by a creeper... or don't like zombies.
It's a good idea, but it's going to take quite a while to make it, probably.

or would it be better to have it as a gui in game to turn on and off each mob at will?

I know with all the great mob creation you and others are doing, that a way to refine control is going to needed
I am just trying to guess which way it is going to go- and how much control can be encoded
do you think an ini type file on world creation would be better?- or an in game way to toggle each mob?
and I am curious which would be easier to implement? I would assume on world creation would be easiest
I am glad to see others are feeling the need
thanks again for all your hard work
and especially for putting up with all those whiny little......
never mind
just thanks and merry xmas to you
and to all!
edit- just reread your post- I see you were thinking in the pause screen like options- cool disregard

I think that BOTH ideas would work well together though in their own ways.
I am not set on one way of doing it

do you mean accept each mod as is?

for adding and removing specific mobs
and I think Mr O. of human+ mod is doing even more detailed one
both of which I hardily approve!
I still like the idea of one with more behavior control
I know that is not what alot of modders intended
but I think it would still be a fun and useful tool
